|Yet another receiver who has been slowed down by injury this offseason is rookie Marquis Lee. His ankle injury should be behind him in time for training camp to start and that's where his early value will begin to take shape. The second rounder out of USC saw his stock drop as a senior heading into the draft because of injury and an uptick in dropped passes. He will need to overcome both of those issues during the preseason to reward the Jaguars and fantasy owners. When healthy, Lee demonstrates the ability to be an explosive down field threat, as well as with reverses and plays after the catch. He is in the mix to start opposite Cecil Shorts along with Ace Sanders and fellow rookie Allen Robinson. Robinson is a little behind the others right now because of injuries as well but Jacksonville is hoping to see both players develop into a duo akin to the days of Keenan McCardell and Jimmy Smith.
| Allen Hurns (concussion) expected to play Week 12|
Rookie named starter opposite Cecil Shorts III

|Gus Bradley said wide receiver Marqise Lee continues to practice well. Bradley said before the bye the rookie had had his best two weeks of practice, and he said he had another good practice Monday.
“He’s showing his competitiveness,” Bradley said. “I think it’s just his mindset and he’s really taking advantage of this opportunity.” Lee’s opportunity is coming in the wake of a season-ending injury to rookie Allen Robinson, who is expected to undergo foot surgery this week. With Robinson out, Bradley on Monday said rookie Allen Hurns and veteran Cecil Shorts III will start, but that Lee will move into the third receiver role.
FFToday's Take: Hurns is a viable deep threat in the Jaguars offense but Cecil Shorts III will likely see a ton of targets this week against the Colts. Hurns is expected to be cleared from the concussion protocol and both he and the veteran Shorts make interesting plays this week in what should be a high-scoring game.
| Cecil Shorts out with hamstring injury|
Rookie receivers get big opportunity on Sunday
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 6, 1:50 pm
|The Jaguars have declared wide receiver Cecil Shorts out of the season opener at Philadelphia with a hamstring injury and he won’t make the trip for the game.
The other three players not making the trip are running back Storm Johnson, offensive tackle Austin Pasztor and tight end Clay Harbor. (Florida Times Union)|
FFToday's Take: Shorts had been bothered by a hamstring injury during training camp and it flared up again on Thursday. He was limited in practice Friday. With Shorts out, Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson (all rookies) will be the top targets for Chad Henne. Lee and Hurns offers the most fantasy appeal but both are desperation plays.
| Cecil Shorts still bothered by hamstring injury|
Misses practice Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 5, 11:59 am
|Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts participated in this morning’s walk-through but is not practicing because of hamstring tightness that forced him to leave Thursday’s practice early.
Shorts was not present during the first 30 minutes of today’s workout.
It is expected that Shorts will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s opener at Philadelphia. (Florida Times Union)|
FFToday's Take: Shorts was unable to finish practice yesterday so it's looking more an more like he won't be available against the Bears this week. Expect him to be a gametime decision. If he can't go, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson Allen Hurns and Mike Brown will be the top receivers for Chad Henne.
