Depth Chart
Make no mistake: This Bengals offense is a two-back system. Even though Giovani Bernard had a breakout season and will lead the backfield in touches, don't sleep on Jeremy Hill, the rookie out of Louisiana State University. Shifty and agile for his large size, Hill comes to the Bengals from a run-based, pro-style college offense. The second back taken in the 2014 draft, Hill should find his way onto the field quite often if the Bengals stay true to their commitment to the run. His physical tools, pedigree (former high school All-American) and draft position all should give him the leg up with any potential battles with veteran counterpart BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Hill has a nose for the end zone (28 touchdowns in two years with the Tigers) and if he is able to earn the trust of the coaches with good ball control and blitz pickup, he could handle as many as 100+ rushes in his first season. Hill could take over the 30 carries Green-Ellis had in the red zone last season, as well as exceed five rushing touchdowns. Hill will clearly have the most fantasy value to Bernard owners, but there remains some serious potential value for everyone else as RB4/5.

Hill's rookie year comes to disappointng end
Bengals' RB blames himself for playoff effort
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 5, 4:35 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
After ending the regular season with three straight games of at least 100 yards rushing, Jeremy Hill was comparatively punchless in the Cincinnati Bengals' wild-card round playoff game at Indianapolis on Sunday. The Bengals did have problems blocking all game as the Colts regularly loaded their defensive front with extra linebackers or defensive backs to minimize Hill's rushing lanes. Only two Bengals were credited with positive run-blocking grades by Pro Football Focus: LT Andrew Whitworth had a plus-0.2 while RG Kevin Zeitler had a plus-1.7. Hill said the loaded fronts had no affect on his running. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: In a game that Cincinnati had little choice but to feature its rookie running back (with A.J. Green and Jermaine Gresham sidelined), it didn't. Instead of turning to Giovani Bernard as a de facto slot receiver, the Bengals used Rex Burkhead in that spot, opting to play Hill on 21 snaps of their 62 offensive snaps. Hill is too versatile to be treated as an early-down back only, but that is exactly how he was deployed in the team's season-ending loss. It is something to keep in mind when ranking him in fantasy purposes in 2015.

Injury A.J. Green doubtful, Gresham questionable
Missed practice Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jan 2, 2:35 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
The chances A.J. Green plays in this weekend's Wild Card game against Indianapolis took a hit Friday. And now the Bengals wait with hope giving way to reality. He was listed as doubtful on the official injury report.Green suffered a concussion after being stripped of the football Sunday against Pittsburgh. He did not practice Wednesday, practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, was held completely out of practice this Friday. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

FFToday's Take: Bad news for the Benalgs as they will be without their best wide receiver. Mohamed Sanu will attempt to fill the void but expect Cincinnati to attempt a run-heavy gameplan with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. TE Jermaine Gresham (back) did practice Friday and is listed as questionable. He will be a gametime decision.

Injury A.J. Green injures arm in win over Denver
Bengals WR expects to play versus Steelers
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 23, 9:25 am

Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green suffered an injury to his upper right arm in the first quarter of Monday night's game against the Denver Broncos, and while he tried to play through it he left the game for good late in the third quarter. He said he expects to play this coming Sunday in Pittsburgh. The injury occurred when Green jumped to try to catch a high throw from quarterback Andy Dalton on the first play of the Bengals' second drive of the game and was hit in the upper right arm by the helmet of Broncos safety T.J. Ward. The pass ricocheted off Green's hand and was intercepted by Aqib Talib, who returned it 33 yards for a touchdown. Green didn't play in the Bengals' next offensive series, which actually lasted only one play – Jeremy Hill's 85-yard touchdown run – and played off and on the rest of the half, but was seen constantly dangling the arm at his side and was in obvious pain. He went into the locker room for X-rays that turned out to be negative and tried to play in the second half, but he said the pain just got to be too much. (Cincinnati Inquirer)

FFToday's Take: Green looked to be in a lot of pain Monday night, but we fully expect him to suit up in a game where the Bengals could help themselves clinch a first-round bye.

Injury Giovani Bernard back at practice
Expected to play against Houston on Sunday
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 19, 2:26 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Giovani Bernard was back at practice for the team after missing the last three games with hip and collarbone injuries. He appears to be on track to return to the lineup against the Texans. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: Jeremy Hill has been a capable fill-in while Bernard has been out so it remains to be seen how the touches will be split on Sunday. Both will be risky plays against the Texans due to the workload uncertainty.

Injury Giovani Bernard misses practice Wednesday
Hip injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 12, 2:14 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals lost to the Browns last week without running back Giovani Bernard. Bernard remained a holdout — linebacker Vontaze Burfict also didn’t practice. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: Bernard (hip) will have to show some signs of life in practice Thursday and Friday in order to play this week. For now, Jeremy Hill can be penciled into your starting lineup.

Injury Gio Bernard could be out past Week 10
Bengals plan on keeping Jeremy Hill involved after return
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 6, 3:40 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is out tonight, and could miss more time. And when he gets back, coaches won't be going away from Jeremy Hill. (Albert Breer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The hip pointer injury that wasn't supposed to keep Bernard out of one game sounds like it might keep him out at least three. Saddle up Hill, who could post RB1 numbers tonight against the Browns and possibly next week in New Orleans.

Injury Jeremy Hill poised for another big workload
Rookie should start again Thursday with Bernard likely out
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 4, 11:45 am

Cincinnati Bengals
With a Thursday night game against the Cleveland Browns, the Bengals held a brief walkthrough late Monday afternoon in the stadium. They'll practice once more this week -- Tuesday. It will be after Tuesday's practice that Cincinnati's official pregame injury report will be announced. Right now, it appears running back Giovani Bernard will end up right back in the same spot he was on last week's injury report: doubtful. The second-year back is recovering from a pair of injuries to his hip and clavicle. Just like all of last week's practices, Bernard didn't participate in Monday's walkthrough. He was around the locker room for part of the afternoon, but he didn't step foot on the field. Jeremy Hill is coming off a huge performance in Week 9. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Hill should be in line for another big day on a short week, as it appears Bernard is unlikely to play. The rookie is a no-brainer RB1 until Bernard returns.

Injury Giovani Bernard out with hip injury
Jeremy Hill to get the start
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 31, 1:45 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals RB Giovani Bernard has been ruled out for Sunday with a hip pointer. Bit of a surprise, they thought he’d be OK. (Ian Rapoport via Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Bernard out, rookie Jeremy Hill will get the start and be borderline RB1 in Week 9. The Jaguars are middle-of-the-pack ranking 16th in fantasy points allowed to running backs.

Green likely in, Bernard possibly out in Week 9
WR healing from toe injury; Bernard dealing with hip injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 30, 4:50 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals look like they have a good chance of getting WR A.J. Green back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars as Green participated in practice again on Thursday. However, RB Giovani Bernard missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday because of the hip injury he suffered against Baltimore last weekend. Geoff Hobson of the team’s website reported Bernard’s absence and added that “you have to figure he’s going to be out” when the Bengals take the field against the Jaguars. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: If Bernard is out, Jeremy Hill would be in line for low-end RB1/high-end RB2 production, even against an improving Jaguars' defense. Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead would be other backfield options. Green's return would be a boost to the fantasy stock of QB Andy Dalton, while Mohamed Sanu's consistency figures to suffer with the Bengals' top playmaker back in the lineup.
