| Giovani Bernard back at practice|
Expected to play against Houston on Sunday

|Giovani Bernard was back at practice for the team after missing the last three games with hip and collarbone injuries. He appears to be on track to return to the lineup against the Texans. (ProFootballTalk)|
FFToday's Take: Jeremy Hill has been a capable fill-in while Bernard has been out so it remains to be seen how the touches will be split on Sunday. Both will be risky plays against the Texans due to the workload uncertainty.

|The Bengals lost to the Browns last week without running back Giovani Bernard. Bernard remained a holdout — linebacker Vontaze Burfict also didn’t practice. (ProFootballTalk)|
FFToday's Take: Bernard (hip) will have to show some signs of life in practice Thursday and Friday in order to play this week. For now, Jeremy Hill can be penciled into your starting lineup.

Bengals plan on keeping Jeremy Hill involved after return

|Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is out tonight, and could miss more time. And when he gets back, coaches won't be going away from Jeremy Hill. (Albert Breer on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The hip pointer injury that wasn't supposed to keep Bernard out of one game sounds like it might keep him out at least three. Saddle up Hill, who could post RB1 numbers tonight against the Browns and possibly next week in New Orleans.

Rookie should start again Thursday with Bernard likely out
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 4, 11:45 am
|With a Thursday night game against the Cleveland Browns, the Bengals held a brief walkthrough late Monday afternoon in the stadium. They'll practice once more this week -- Tuesday.
It will be after Tuesday's practice that Cincinnati's official pregame injury report will be announced. Right now, it appears running back Giovani Bernard will end up right back in the same spot he was on last week's injury report: doubtful.
The second-year back is recovering from a pair of injuries to his hip and clavicle. Just like all of last week's practices, Bernard didn't participate in Monday's walkthrough. He was around the locker room for part of the afternoon, but he didn't step foot on the field.
Jeremy Hill is coming off a huge performance in Week 9. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Hill should be in line for another big day on a short week, as it appears Bernard is unlikely to play. The rookie is a no-brainer RB1 until Bernard returns.

Jeremy Hill to get the start

|Bengals RB Giovani Bernard has been ruled out for Sunday with a hip pointer. Bit of a surprise, they thought he’d be OK. (Ian Rapoport via Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: With Bernard out, rookie Jeremy Hill will get the start and be borderline RB1 in Week 9. The Jaguars are middle-of-the-pack ranking 16th in fantasy points allowed to running backs.

WR healing from toe injury; Bernard dealing with hip injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 30, 4:50 pm
|The Bengals look like they have a good chance of getting WR A.J. Green back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars as Green participated in practice again on Thursday.
However, RB Giovani Bernard missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday because of the hip injury he suffered against Baltimore last weekend. Geoff Hobson of the team’s website reported Bernard’s absence and added that “you have to figure he’s going to be out” when the Bengals take the field against the Jaguars. (Pro Football Talk)|
FFToday's Take: If Bernard is out, Jeremy Hill would be in line for low-end RB1/high-end RB2 production, even against an improving Jaguars' defense. Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead would be other backfield options. Green's return would be a boost to the fantasy stock of QB Andy Dalton, while Mohamed Sanu's consistency figures to suffer with the Bengals' top playmaker back in the lineup.

HC Lewis suggests Bernard will "get a little bit more"
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 4, 3:55 pm
|Fantasy Nugget: Bengals HC Marvin Lewis told me "A smart guy would say Gio gets a little bit more" when (I asked him about he would split touches between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill). (Ross Tucker on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The first clue was the second-round pick the Bengals spent on Hill this spring, the second was Cincinnati's curious choice to give the LSU rookie 26 touches in the preseason finale and the third was the release of BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The good news for Bernard owners is that he is probably still in line for over 200 carries and 60-plus receptions because new OC Hue Jackson will put a heavy emphasis on the running game. As for Hill, he should be solid flex play going forward.

Bengals release running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 29, 3:16 pm
|The moment running back Jeremy Hill was selected in the second round of this year's draft, the writing appeared to be on the wall for veteran BenJarvus Green-Ellis. That was confirmed Friday when the team opted to release him. (Cincinnati Enquirer)|
FFToday's Take: We figured this was coming and the Bengals made it official today. BJGE, 29, was set to make $3 million this year. Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead will make the final roster as backups to Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. Green-Ellis may catch on with another team but he's not likely to be a fantasy factor in 2014.

Bengals missing many RBs in final preseason game
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 29, 8:00 am
|The second-round pick from LSU touched the ball 26 times for 160 yards -- including 20 for 123 in the first half alone. Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said he utilized Jeremy Hill so much just so he could get a feel for what a heavy workload could be like in the regular season. (Cincinnati.com)|
FFToday's Take: It's unusual for a player expected to contribute on a regular basis to get so much work in the final preseason game. However, the Bengals were also thin at the running back position with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead out with injury last night. Hill is locked in as Bernard's backup and should see 8-10 touches per week.
