|Rookie wideout Brandin Cooks missed the Saints' mini-camps and most OTAs because Oregon State's school year runs a little longer than other programs. To make up for lost time, the 2013 Biletnikoff award winner plans on working with QB Drew Brees prior to the start of training camp. His explosive speed should make him an instant threat in the Saints vertical passing game while his quickness will give him chances to make plays after the catch. He should fit the offense perfectly, but may need some seasoning before being a solid fantasy contributor.
Update: Cooks' timeline is 4-6 weeks
Earlier reports suggested 2-4 week timetable

Saints WR Brandin Cooks had surgery on his injured thumb and is actually out 4-6 weeks, per his agent. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This report, if true, makes Cooks droppable given the fact there are five weeks remaining in most fantasy leagues. It may be worthwhile to hold on to him until an official announcement is made, but owners should plan to be without the rookie for the rest of the year.

New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Brandin Cooks broke his thumb in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and could miss as much as a month, according to reports. (New Orleans Times Picayune)
FFToday's Take: Cooks actually stayed in the game after the injury and caught three passes. Kenny Stills projects to see increased playing time with the rookie wideout on the sidelines. Cooks was the top fantasy receiver in New Orleans with 53 catches, 550 yards and 3 TDs.

Slight bump for Brandin Cooks

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills has been declared out for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. (New Orleans Times Picayune)
FFToday's Take: The Saints brought back Robert Meachum this week which was a good sign that Stills was headed for the inactive list. With Stills out, Brandin Cooks becomes a more attractive play in Week 1 against the Falcons.
