2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
In the history of the NFL, no other wide receiver has been blessed to play with two different first ballot hall of fame quarterbacks like Brandin Cooks, who left New Orleans after two seasons catching passes from Drew Brees to move to New England and work with Tom Brady.

At just 24 years of age, the former first round selection from Oregon State owns consecutive 1100-yard seasons, with 20 career receiving touchdowns. As a member of the Patriots, Cooks joins a crowded receiving corps dominated by a tight end in Rob Gronkowski who commands a significant percentage of targets each game and a coach who is not afraid to employ game plans that could limit Cooks' targets from one week to the next.

Fantasy owners want to own a piece of the New England offense because it is potent and the Patriots will put up one of the highest point totals in the league this season. The problem is predicting when and to whom the points will be distributed to, making Cooks a less desirable option compared to other wide receivers taken in the early rounds of fantasy drafts. Cooks has the ceiling of a WR1 but given the all the mouths to feed in New England, his likely output will look more like a WR2.

Injury Chris Hogan misses practice Wednesday
Shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 15, 4:00 pm

New England Patriots
Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports that wide receiver Chris Hogan is also back in Foxborough receiving treatment on the shoulder injury that kept him from playing against the Broncos last Sunday. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: The Patriots are practicing this week in Colorado as they get preparted to play the Raiders in Mexico City at high altitude. With Hogan away from the team, it appears unlikely he will play in Week 11. Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola and Phillip Dorsett will be the top wideouts for Brady this week.

Arm still in a sling
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 8, 3:30 pm

New England Patriots
Wide receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder), right tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle) and defensive tackle Malcom Brown (ankle) missed another practice today, leaving each player's status in question for the Patriots’ trip to Denver this weekend. (Boston Herald)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy owners should have plan B in place for Hogan who is still dealing with a shoulder injury. Expect Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola and Phillip Dorsett to be the top 3 wideouts for Brady against the Broncos.

Injury Amendola ruled out for Patriots
Pats to feature RBs in the passing game?
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 15, 3:00 pm

New England Patriots
The New England Patriots will be without starting linebacker Dont'a Hightower and top slot receiver Danny Amendola for Sunday's road game against the New Orleans Saints, as the club has officially ruled them out with injuries. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: With Amendola out, Chris Hogan and Brandin Cooks should be Tom Brady's top wideout targets. Belichick may opt to use his running backs (James White, Rex Burkhead, Dion Lewis) more in the passing game as newly acquired Phillip Dorsett is the only other healthy receiver on the roster.

Injury Danny Amendola misses practice Thursday
Concussion, knee injury make keep Pats receiver out Week 2
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 14, 1:30 pm

New England Patriots
While Dont'a Hightower (knee) & Danny Amendola (concussion/knee) remain absent at practice, DT Vincent Valentine (No. 99/knee) returns. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Amendola could practice Friday but barring a significant turnaround, it's unlikely he will play this week leaving Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan as the primary wide receivers for Tom Brady. More running back usage could also be in the Patriots gameplan against the Saints.
