|The team's top selection in the 2014 draft, Kelvin Benjamin brings a huge 6'5” frame and plenty of hope to a passing attack that lost franchise leader Steve Smith. Concerns over Benjamin's rawness, propensity for drops and lack of optimal speed do not trump the fact that he is a physical mismatch for just about any single defensive back in the league. In this capacity, the Panthers are hoping he can quickly emerge as one of the league's deadliest red zone targets while also giving Cam Newton a much larger window to complete his passes. Positive reports from training camp have raved about his ability to digest the playbook and make plays in the red zone. For fantasy purposes, his touchdown potential alone gives him WR3/flex upside but he likely won't see enough volume to crack the top-40 receivers in 2014.
Comment: Should start as a rookie and may lead the wideouts in production... which says something about the Panthers passing attack.

Panthers WR gets concussion clearance from doctor

|Panthers rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin (concussion) has been cleared, source says. He’ll play today vs. the Packers. (Ian Rapoport via Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: It sounds like Benjamin will be on the field today against Green Bay. He's a solid WR2 but keep in mind the Packers haven't allowed any wide receiver to gain more than 82 yards (Calvin Johnson).
| Kelvin Benjamin practices Friday, Questionable|
Still needs to be cleared by independent doctor
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 17, 1:00 pm
|Panthers rookie receiver Kelvin Benjamin is questionable to play Sunday against Green Bay with a concussion. He participated fully at practice Friday, but he still must be cleared by an independent doctor before being allowed to play against Green Bay. (Charlotte Observer)|
FFToday's Take: The Panthers are likely to see receive final word on his status tomorrow. The expectation is that he will be cleared so fantasy owners can pencil him in their lineups for now. The Packers have been decent against fantasy wideouts ranking 22nd in FPts/Allowed to the position.
| Kelvin Benjamin sidelined with bone bruise|
WR considered day-to-day
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jul 28, 6:05 pm
|Panthers HC Ron Rivera told reporters Monday afternoon that rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin suffered a bone bruise to his left knee. The injury stems from when Benjamin bumped knees with a teammate during practice Sunday.
The rookie's knee is stable and is experiencing swelling, and there is no timetable for Benjamin's return, per Rivera. The No. 28 overall pick in May's draft is expected to return to practice once the swelling subsides, and Rivera expects that to be a matter of days, not weeks. (NFL.com)|
FFToday's Take: Beat writer Joe Person tweeted on Monday the rookie is day-to-day. There may not be a player with a higher ceiling and lower floor in fantasy this year; the first-round pick out of Florida State is 6-5 and 240 pounds, but raw with inconsistent hands. As a result, any missed time in camp is cause for some concern. It does sound like Carolina will get him back soon, however, so he should remain on track to be the Panthers' de facto top receiver.
