2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Despite posting career highs in targets (169) and catches (101), Beckham finished 2016 with his fewest touchdowns (10), lowest catch percentage (59.8%), and lowest fantasy points per game in his three-year career, yet still finished as the No.5 WR in fantasy football. A positive regression to a career average catch percentage of 65 percent would result in a more efficient OBJ in the red zone, and a likely increase in touchdown catches. The addition of Marshall and Engram will no doubt reduce the number of targets for Beckham unless Manning decides to set a career high in pass attempts. But fewer targets may not be a bad thing for Beckham owners, as more quality targets, especially in the red zone, would make him more of an effective scoring weapon while hopefully keeping him healthy for a full 16-game season.

I wrote extensively in my Brandon Marshall piece that the addition of Marshall to the passing game has a wide spectrum of possibilities for Beckham, with the most positive being an increase in fantasy production due to a decrease of double and triple coverage schemes from opposing defenses. The negative end of the spectrum could be a disgruntled OBJ causing turmoil on the field and in the locker room, which would have a direct adverse effect on his production.

Changes coming to Giants offense
More snaps for Orleans Darkwa?
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 20, 8:00 am

New York Giants
Changes are a coming. This week, they might be more noticeable than a few more snaps for running back Orleans Darkwa or a slightly altered game plan. "Yeah, we can't keep doing the same thing over and over again," coach Ben McAdoo said on his Tuesday conference call. "That's insanity. It's not working. So we are going to look to make some changes this week, like we did last week. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Giants offense has been anemic the first two weeks. Look for Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa to be more involved at the running back position but its hard to trust any Giants player, including Odell Beckham Jr. given the inefficiency they've shown early in 2017.

Injury OBJ active, Janoris Jenkins not in Week 2
Beckham set to make season debut
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 7:15 pm

New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) officially ACTIVE for Giants. CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle, hand) is OUT. (ESPN - Dan Graziano)

FFToday's Take: OBJ appears near 100 percent in warmups, so start him if you got him, even though he has a difficult matchup with Darius Slay likely chasing him around. As for Jenkins, he will be missed, so owners can upgrade Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay a bit. Before owners go to crazy on loading up on either Lion, however, the Giants still have 2016 first-round Eli Apple and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. If anything, Golden Tate might see the biggest bump for fantasy purposes.

Injury Odell Beckham limited in practice Friday
Expected to be a gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 15, 4:30 pm

New York Giants
Another day, another step in the right direction for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He was a limited participant at practice for the second straight day and there is a realistic shot barring a setback to his injured left ankle of Beckham playing Monday night against the Detroit Lions, a source told ESPN. Everything is trending in the right direction. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Beckham has been limited the last two days in practice but it sounds like he has a realistic chance of being on the field Monday night. Even if he plays, it will still be a risk for fantasy owners as he won't be 100 percent and his role will be in question. We should get more reports on Beckham's status over the weekend. Monday night would represent 4 weeks since his injury.

Injury OBJ needs six to eight weeks to recover?
Gets in limited practice ahead of Week 2 MNF game
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 14, 5:45 pm

New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. said he has a 6-8 week injury. Asked him how he felt today and he gave me a thumbs up. He was officially listed as limited. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Beckham is 3 1/2 weeks into his recovery and was spotted running routes (somewhat gingerly) during warmups prior to the game in Week 1. In all likelihood, he will probably be given a "doubtful" tag and miss the Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions before possibly returning in Week 3, which would fall in line with some of the initial recovery projections. When he does return, owners should not hesitate plugging him right back into their lineups.

Injury Odell Beckham Jr. will be a game-time decision
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 10, 7:00 am

New York Giants
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be a game-time decision for the team's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. While the Giants are holding out hope for Beckham, there is serious doubt about whether he will play, sources told Schefter. Meetings are planned for Sunday to better assess Beckham's status. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Beckham owners should be making other plans for their starting lineup. If Beckham sits, Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shephard and TE Evan Engram should be Eli Manning's top three options in the passing game.

Injury Beckham "50-50" for Sunday Night Football
Has yet to practice in full since August ankle injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 7, 11:30 pm

New York Giants
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) will play on Sunday. Unless he doesn’t. Literally. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Beckham is believed to 50-50 to play with an ankle injury suffered last month in the preseason against the Browns. This likely means that Beckham, who hasn’t practiced on Wednesday and Thursday, will be listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. The question then becomes whether he’ll make the trip with the team to Dallas on Saturday. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: At this point, owners need to assume OBJ will not go in Week 1. Not only is the fact he has yet to practice in full a bad sign, but the Giants play on Sunday night against Dallas, leaving owners with only two Monday night games to pick from if Beckham doesn't suit. Thankfully, it appears the Giants may end up leaving him home if he isn't going to play, so owners may not have to wait until Sunday. Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram could all be worth fantasy starts if OBJ sits.

Injury Odell Beckham returns to practice
Ankle
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Sep 6, 12:04 pm

New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. returned to practice with the Giants on Wednesday in a seemingly limited fashion for the first time since spraining his left ankle on Aug. 21 in his first and only preseason appearance in Cleveland. His status for Sunday night's Week 1 opener in Dallas has been up in the air, but Beckham has been upbeat on social media and his presence on Wednesday is especially encouraging. (Daily News)

FFToday's Take: It remains to be seen if Odell Beckham, Jr. will be full throttle when the Giants square off against the Cowboys, but his return to practice certainly improves his chances of suiting up in Week 1.

Injury Brandon Marshall vows to be ready for Week 1
Giants WR says he "feels good" despite shoulder injury
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 5, 12:25 pm

New York Giants
Despite missing the last two preseason games with an injured shoulder, Giants WR Brandon Marshall promised to "be out there" for the opener in Dallas on Sunday night. (SNY)

FFToday's Take: Marshall missed about a week of practice after the hit he took during New York's Aug. 21 game in Cleveland, and hadn't spoken to the media about it until Monday afternoon. He has looked fine during the portions of practice that are open to the media, but it's unclear if he was limited at all during the Monday's light practice. And if Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't play, the veteran could see a huge number of targets.

Injury Brandon Marshall injures shoulder
Veteran WR
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 22, 9:05 am

New York Giants
Head coach Ben McAdoo said he had no results available after the game, but Brandon Marshall told reporters he was "sore" while briefly walking through the locker room after the game. He later posted a tweet implying he was feeling strong with a muscles emoji. (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: WRs Tavarres King and Odell Beckham Jr. were also injured in the game. King and Marshall's injuries became known after Beckham was hit low by Browns defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun, leading to some tense moments for the Giants. Beckham later returned to the sideline in street clothes and appears to be walking without a limp. He has a wrap on his left ankle, but it is not bulky.

Injury Odell Beckham Jr. sprains ankle
Giants WR avoids serious injury, plans to play Week 1
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 22, 9:00 am

New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. was injured during Monday night’s second quarter with what looked like a potentially catastrophic leg injury, but X-rays have come back clean. (New York Daily News)

FFToday's Take: Beckham was joking afterward with reporters: “I don’t know, man. I’m pretty concerned, but I think I’ll be all right. It feels like a sprained ankle, a rolled ankle. I don’t know. You ever hurt your ankle? That’s what it feels like." It's not a good thing for his draft stock or value, as ankle injuries can linger, but the injury isn't as bad as it looked.
