2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Over the past two seasons, only Rob Gronkowski has averaged more fantasy points at the tight end position than Jordan Reed. Unfortunately, just like Gronk, Reed has been limited by numerous injuries, making him a risk to play a full 16-game schedule.

In four seasons with Washington, Reed has yet to play more than 14 games in a season, including last year in which he managed only 12 games for fantasy owners. But in those 12 games, Reed was Cousin's primary target, with 66 catches for 686 yards and six touchdowns on 89 targets. In two of those games, Reed left early due to injury, making his per-game points even more attractive for fantasy owners.

The risk/reward of Reed might be too high for owners, especially considering Reed's fairly high ADP as the third TE off the board. Those owners comfortable for the home run/bust potential in Reed, be sure to take a viable second tight end in the draft, as history has shown that Reed will not play a full season.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Reed officially limited on Thursday
Rib/sternum
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 21, 1:45 pm

Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins Retweeted Washington Redskins #Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib/sternum) was limited in practice today, Gruden says. "Pain is becoming manageable...see how he does tomorrow." (Redskins on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed is shaping up to be a gametime decision on Sunday night football against the Raiders. Owners should have plan B in place.

Injury Jordan Reed "isn't healthy right now"
Rib cartilage injury and SC joint ligament strain
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 20, 5:00 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins tight end Jordan Reed sat out of practice Wednesday because of his rib cartilage injury and a SC joint ligament strain. Reed suffered the injuries during the Redskins' 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2. "The plan is we’ve got to get him healthy and the concern is he’s not healthy right now," Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. (Washington Times)

FFToday's Take: Add rib and shoulder issues on to Reed's already ailing foot. This doesn't sound promising for Jordan Reed's chances of playing against the Raiders but we'll have to see if he's able to practice later in the week. Vernon Davis is next up on the depth chart and would be a serviceable TE2 should Reed sit.

Injury Rob Kelley, Jordan Reed day-to-day
Rib injury for RB, chest contusion for TE
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 5:15 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins HC Jay Gruden says RB Rob Kelley (rib cartilage) and TE Jordan Reed (chest contusion) are day-to-day. Nothing major. (NFL.com - Ian Rapoport)

FFToday's Take: It appears Kelley got lucky, as the team had feared a fractured rib. Gruden hinted Monday he expects to have a better idea about his running back's status by Wednesday. Reed is unlikely to miss any time with the chest injury, although his toe remains a concern. As of now, expect both players to play next Sunday night against the Raiders.

Injury Reed injury labeled "fracture in big toe"
Redskins TE expected to play
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 10, 7:30 am

Washington Redskins
Redskins star tight end Jordan Reed will be battling a painful toe injury for at least the early part of the season, one that they hope won't affect his production. Sources say the mysterious toe ailment that Reed has been battling is actually a fracture in his big toe, one that forced adjustment to the way he runs. That, in turn, has caused issues in other parts of his foot and helps explain why he was slow to get on the field in training camp. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: We've known for weeks Reed has been dealing with a foot issue. and it sounds like it will linger throughout the season. We'll see how much it affects him on the field. Reed owners should have a decent TE option either on their bench or targeted on the waiver wire.

Jamison Crowder set to make preseason debut
Missed opener with hamstring injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 17, 6:10 pm

Washington Redskins
Jamison Crowder received a full workload yet again, and the plan is for him to make his preseason debut after missing the opener with a hamstring injury. It means that Kirk Cousins and the offense will take another step toward returning to full strength. Crowder has looked good in practice, winning matchups against Josh Norman when lined up outside, and Kendall Fuller or linebackers or safeties when lined up in the slot. He has used crisp route-running to shake the likes of Norman and Fuller, and speed to win against linebackers and safeties. (The Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Despite all the hype Terrelle Pryor is getting in the fantasy community, Crowder should see the most targets in Washington. The key for him living up to his early-sixth round ADP is remaining one of Kirk Cousins' two favorite options in the red zone (along with Jordan Reed). It will be difficult for him to do given Pryor is such a big and athletic target, but PPR owners should be happy with Crowder regardless given his 90-catch upside.

Injury Jordan Reed: No timetable for return
TE visits foot specialist about toe injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Aug 1, 1:48 pm

Washington Redskins
Gruden says TE Jordan Reed went to Charlotte to see a specialist about his toe injury, no timetable for return yet. (Redskins on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Here we are again discussing another Jordan Reed injury. Reed was placed on the active PUP list week and reports suggest the Redskins haven't been overly concerned about his toe injury. However, this feels like a situation were Reed may not see the practice field any time soon.

Injury Jordan Reed begins camp on PUP list
Precautionary move, sprained toe
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jul 26, 6:11 pm

Washington Redskins
On the flip side, they announced they will open camp without their top offensive weapon, as tight end Jordan Reed was placed on the physically unable to perform list. A team spokesman said Reed was suffering from a sprained toe. Keeping him out of practice was believed to be a precautionary move, said a person with knowledge of the situation. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Reed participated in the Redskins off-season program with no issues so this move is a result of a new injury. He can be activated from the list at anytime during camp. For now, there's no reason to adjust his fantasy value until we get news the injury is more severe.
