2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
On a points per game basis Jordan Reed was a fantasy TE1 in 2013, despite being a rookie who got off to a slow start. He missed the last six games of the season, though, after he suffered a major concussion, his fourth including his college years. The threat of a reoccurrence is the only dark cloud hanging over Reed this season and beyond. In what may seem to be classic offseason hyperbole, Robert Griffin III called him “one of the most talented tight ends in the league.” Looking at his numbers when healthy, that may not be such an outlandish statement after all. Sean McVey as the offensive coordinator could help Reed even more, since he is Reed's former position coach. Already, Reed is expected to be a big part of the offense. He's been favorably compared to fellow Florida alumnus Aaron Hernandez in physicality and playing style, and his rookie season production helps to further make that comparison apt. Projecting the eight full games he played in 2013 out to a full season, Reed would have finished with an 88-974-6 stat-line. While it may be a little too optimistic to project those numbers for his 2014 season, a top-five finish is well within his reach if he stays healthy.

Comment: Another concussion might turn into a serious situation for the talented tight end.

Injury Jordan Reed active
Redskins get starting TE back
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 30, 11:30 am

Washington Redskins
Tight end Jordan Reed also missed the 49ers game with a hamstring injury. He is active today as well. (CSN Washington)

FFToday's Take: With a number of tight ends sitting this week, Reed moves into the TE1 discussion now that he is active. The Colts have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends.

Injury TE Jordan Reed ruled out
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 21, 1:10 pm

Washington Redskins
Also ruled out of Sunday’s game is tight end Jordan Reed, who had already missed four games with a hamstring injury. He’s now sidelined by a strain in his other hamstring. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Reed has immense talent but can't stay on the field. Reed has now missed time this season because of injuries to both his hamstrings. Niles Paul will fill-in and is a worth a look for TE-desperate owners and salary relief in daily games.

Injury Jordan Reed misses practice Wednesday
Tight end dealing with hamstring issue again
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 19, 2:07 pm

Washington Redskins
Jay Gruden confirms Baker, Trent Williams, Lauvao and Jordan Reed did not practice. ..As for Williams "a long road" to play. (ESPN 980 via Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed injured the other hamstring last week and remains iffy to play this week. Reed missed a month earlier this season with a hamsting injury in the opposite leg. Reed owners should have Plan B in place.

Injury Jordan Reed has new hamstring injury
Washington TE not 100 percent heading into Week 12
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 18, 10:20 am

Washington Redskins
Tight end Jordan Reed strained his right hamstring -- he dealt with a strained left hamstring earlier this season. Linebacker Trent Murphy has a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament, but Gruden said, "It's something he can play with if he can deal with a little bit of soreness." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Reed just can't stay healthy. Expect TE Niles Paul to see more snaps until Reed can get back to 100 percent.

Injury Jordan Reed a gametime decision
HC: "still not quite there yet"
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 10, 1:20 pm

Washington Redskins
Tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) is listed as questionable. He practiced in a limited capacity. Gruden said Reed is “still not quite there yet,” but that he expected that the second-year pro would be a game-time decision. Reed has maintained that if everything proceeded without a hitch this week, he expects to play. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Reed isn't a lock to play as of Friday so check the Inactive list on Sunday before putting the Redskins tight end in your lineup. Niles Paul would start if Reed sits.

Injury Jordan Reed ‘shooting for Sunday’
Hamstring
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Oct 8, 5:40 pm

Washington Redskins
As the Washington Redskins left the practice field on Wednesday, tight end Jordan Reed lingered a couple of minutes longer to run some extra routes and catch passes from quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Redskins again classified Reed as limited following Wednesday’s session because he didn’t handle a full workload. But the second-year tight end expressed optimism, however, over the progress he has made and also said he hopes to play on Sunday if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: The Redskins were banking on big things from Jordan Reed this season so it is good news to see him practicing even if only on a limited basis. Even if he suits up this weekend he may be on a snap count.

Injury Niles Paul expected to play Monday night
Full practice on Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 3, 3:50 pm

Washington Redskins
Tight end Niles Paul passed the final stage of testing in accordance with the NFL’s concussion protocol and practiced fully on Friday. The fourth-year veteran sustained a concussion in last Thursday’s game against the New York Giants and had been limited in practice all of this week. Paul is now expected to play in Monday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Jordan Reed was limited Friday with a hamstring strain. His availability for Monday remains uncertain. Paul appears to be the tight end to own in Washington this week assuming he has no setbacks.

Injury Jordan Reed expected to miss Week 4
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Sep 23, 4:30 pm

Washington Redskins
According to John Keim of ESPN.com and multiple other reporters who cover the team, tight end Jordan Reed indicated Tuesday he’s doubtful to play Thursday night vs. the Giants because of a lingering hamstring injury. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: Reed missed practice Tuesday ahead of the Redskins Thursday night game against the Giants. This means Niles Paul owners get another week of TE1 from their waiver wire claim.
