2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Over the past two seasons, only Rob Gronkowski has averaged more fantasy points at the tight end position than Jordan Reed. Unfortunately, just like Gronk, Reed has been limited by numerous injuries, making him a risk to play a full 16-game schedule.

In four seasons with Washington, Reed has yet to play more than 14 games in a season, including last year in which he managed only 12 games for fantasy owners. But in those 12 games, Reed was Cousin's primary target, with 66 catches for 686 yards and six touchdowns on 89 targets. In two of those games, Reed left early due to injury, making his per-game points even more attractive for fantasy owners.

The risk/reward of Reed might be too high for owners, especially considering Reed's fairly high ADP as the third TE off the board. Those owners comfortable for the home run/bust potential in Reed, be sure to take a viable second tight end in the draft, as history has shown that Reed will not play a full season.

Injury Jordan Reed will sit in Week 14
Redskins TE can't get over hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 6, 2:45 pm

Washington Redskins
Washington TE Jordan Reed will not play Sunday vs Chargers. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed has played in only six games this season and hasn't played since Week 8 due to a hamstring injury. Vernon Davis has been a disappointment the last two weeks but will once again get the start with Niles Paul filling the No.2 tight end role.

Vernon Davis will start at TE

Washington Redskins
The Redskins will once again look to Vernon Davis to fill the void of the injured Jordan Reed, who has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Cowboys. (Redskins.com)

FFToday's Take: Reed hasn't played since Week 8 and will once again sit due to a hamstring injury. Vernon Davis will get the start on Thursday against the Cowboys and is in a good sport for a bounce back game after a goose-egg in Week 12.

Injury Jordan Reed ruled out
Vernon Davis gets plus matchup
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 22, 2:00 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins’ tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring), defensive lineman Terrell McClain (toe), safety Montae Nicholson (concussion) and offensive lineman Chase Roullier (hand surgery) have officially been ruled out for Washington’s Thanksgiving night game against the New York Giants. It’ll be the fifth missed game this season for Reed, who caught one pass for five yards against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 29 before suffering a second-quarter injury. (Washington Post)

FFToday's Take: Perhaps Reed can see the field in Week 13. Until then, it's the Vernon Davis show at tight end. He'll be on the TE1 radar against a Giants defense giving up the most fantasy points to the position.

Injury Jordan Reed, Pryor ruled out
Pryor dealing with ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 17, 2:00 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been ruled out for Sunday's game at New Orleans. Center Spencer Long and receiver Terrelle Pryor also have been ruled out. Pryor will see a specialist Monday for an ankle injury. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Reed can't get over the hump with his hamstring injury and Pryor has been a fantasy afterthought for weeks. In their absence, Vernon Davis and slot receiver Jamison Crowder should see plenty of targets against the Saints with DB Marshon Lattimore locked up on Josh Doctson.

Injury Jordan Reed working off to the side Thursday
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 16, 1:10 pm

Washington Redskins
Tight end Jordan Reed and left tackle Trent Williams both are working off to the side, going through agility drills and some resistance training. Terrelle Pryor is not at practice yet today. It's uncertain the reason for his absence. Jamison Crowder, who was absent Wednesday, has returned. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Reed will classified as "limited" with his hamstring injury. Until he gets in a full practice, fantasy owners should not consider him for lineups in Week 11. Vernon Davis and Jamison Crowder should be popular targets for Kirk Cousins against the Vikings.

Injury Jordan Reed expected to sit
Hamstring injury

Washington Redskins
#Redskins TE Jordan Reed, who missed practice on Friday with a hamstring injury, is not expected to play today, source said. But LT Trent Williams, battling through a painful knee injury, is expecting to play, somehow. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: So it goes with Reed. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday but missed on Friday. Vernon Davis will once again be on the TE1 radar in a matchup against the Vikings.

Injury Reed and Crowder limited on Wednesday
Redskins receivers do individual drills
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 8, 2:00 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins TE Jordan Reed, G Brandon Scherff, WR Jamison Crowder, TE Niles Paul, C Spencer Long, G Shawn Lauvao all are going through individual drills. All did not play Sunday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Reed and Crowder missed Week 9 but hope to be back on the field in Week 10 against the Vikings. Both are dealing with hamstring injuries.

Injury Jordan Reed out, Crowder questionable
Vernon Davis to start at TE
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 3, 1:30 pm

Washington Redskins
Washington ruled out TEs Jordan Reed and Niles Paul for Sunday at Seattle. OT Trent Williams doubtful, RB Rob Kelley and Jamison Crowder Q. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed will miss Week 9 with a hamstring injury while Crowder will go through a workout on Saturday to determine his status. Crowder has missed practice all week. If he sits, Ryan Grant should see increased work along side Josh Doctson and Terrelle Pryor.

Injury Jordan Reed listed as questionable

By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 30, 1:10 pm

Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins head into Monday night’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs with running back Rob Kelley (rib), wide receiver Jamison Crowder (hamstring) tight end Jordan Reed (rib/sternum) as questionable. The Pro Bowl tight end is confident he can play Monday evening as he’s been regaining strength and functionality in his core. As he’s been limited in practices recently, Reed’s worked with the wide receivers during individual drills. (Redskins.com)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like both Kelley and Reed will give it a go Monday night. It would be wise for Reed owners to grab Vernon Davis off the waiver wire (if possible) in case he's a surprise inactive. Kelley should slide back into the starting role over Samaje Perine.

Injury Jordan Reed, gametime decision
Vernon Davis becomes viable TE2
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 24, 7:15 am

Washington Redskins
Washington TE Jordan Reed (rib) is considered a game-time call, per source, but is more unlikely to play vs. Raiders. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Redskins and Raiders play Sunday night, leaving Reed owners in a bind but grabbing Vernon Davis off the waiver wire would be a prudent move. Reed injured his ribs and suffered a SC joint ligament sprain in his shoulder last week against the Rams.

Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins Retweeted Washington Redskins #Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib/sternum) was limited in practice today, Gruden says. "Pain is becoming manageable...see how he does tomorrow." (Redskins on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed is shaping up to be a gametime decision on Sunday night football against the Raiders. Owners should have plan B in place.

Injury Jordan Reed "isn't healthy right now"
Rib cartilage injury and SC joint ligament strain
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 20, 5:00 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins tight end Jordan Reed sat out of practice Wednesday because of his rib cartilage injury and a SC joint ligament strain. Reed suffered the injuries during the Redskins' 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2. "The plan is we’ve got to get him healthy and the concern is he’s not healthy right now," Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. (Washington Times)

FFToday's Take: Add rib and shoulder issues on to Reed's already ailing foot. This doesn't sound promising for Jordan Reed's chances of playing against the Raiders but we'll have to see if he's able to practice later in the week. Vernon Davis is next up on the depth chart and would be a serviceable TE2 should Reed sit.

Injury Rob Kelley, Jordan Reed day-to-day
Rib injury for RB, chest contusion for TE
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 5:15 pm

Washington Redskins
Redskins HC Jay Gruden says RB Rob Kelley (rib cartilage) and TE Jordan Reed (chest contusion) are day-to-day. Nothing major. (NFL.com - Ian Rapoport)

FFToday's Take: It appears Kelley got lucky, as the team had feared a fractured rib. Gruden hinted Monday he expects to have a better idea about his running back's status by Wednesday. Reed is unlikely to miss any time with the chest injury, although his toe remains a concern. As of now, expect both players to play next Sunday night against the Raiders.
