Doug Martin looking like odd man out for Bucs
Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims are 1-2 in RB rotation
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 4, 10:30 am

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have been starting Doug Martin for most of the season. Thatís understandable because Martin rushed for more than 1,400 yards as a rookie in 2012. But the NFL is a league thatís all about what has happened lately. For Martin, not much has. He missed much of 2013 with a shoulder injury. He's been dealing with knee and ankle injuries this seasons and hasnít produced much. Martin has gained 166 yards on 28 carries, an average of 2.9 yards per carry. Backup Bobby Rainey has been more productive than Martin, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Top that off with the fact that rookie Charles Sims is close to being active, and things arenít looking really bright for Martin. He was a first-round pick in 2012. But itís looking like Martin could be the third man in a two-back rotation for the rest of this season. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: While you can't quite drop Martin yet, it's looking more and more like Rainey is the back to own in Tampa Bay, with Sims and Martin filling in the rest of the workload. Rainey isn't a world-beater, but he's capable in all aspects of every-down duties and his workmanlike resolve has finally helped provide a significant fantasy opportunity for owners who stashed him.

Injury Doug Martin misses practice Friday
Will likely be inactive
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 31, 1:45 pm

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
For the third day in a row, the Bucs practiced without starting left tackle Anthony Collins (foot) and running back Doug Martin (ankle) with return specialist Trindon Holliday joining them on the sidelines Friday after tweaking a hamstring in Thursday's drills. Barring a surprise, all three would likely be inactive for Sunday's game at Cleveland (Tampa Times)

FFToday's Take: Martin hasn't officially been ruled out but he's a candidate for the inactive list on Sunday. In his absence, Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims will likely handle the rushing duties against the Browns with Rainey getting the start.

Injury Doug Martin not practicing Thursday
Shed walking boot; likely questionable for Week 9

FFToday's Take: Martin was wearing a walking boot through Wednesday, making him a question mark against the Browns this weekend. Despite their public offerings to the contrary, the Bucs are probably ready to see if rookie Charles Sims can spark their running game. To that end, Auman speculated in an earlier tweet that Sims could see 10-plus touches this weekend. If Martin cannot play in Week 9, Bobby Rainey will draw the start.

Injury Martin and Jackson practice for the Bucs
Mike Glennon likely to get the start at QB
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 25, 12:10 pm

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
For the Bucs, in addition to McCoy, Mike Glennon is likely to start for QB Josh McCown (thumb), rookie TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (ankle) was limited in practice while RB Doug Martin (knee) was a full go, along with WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) (Tampa Bay Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Martin has gotten off to a rocky start with 9 total rushing yards after three weeks. Backup Bobby Rainey put the ball on the ground twice in Week 3 so the coaching staff shouldn't hesitate to give Martin a chance to regain the starting running back job in Week 4.

Injury Doug Martin officially Inactive
Bobby Rainey expected to start

FFToday's Take: Bobby Rainey moves into RB2 territory with Martin watching on the sidelines. The Falcons have given up the most fantasy points to running backs over the first two weeks.

Injury Bucs likely without Doug Martin in Week 3
Team also expects to be minus Gerald McCoy
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 18, 4:10 pm

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers listed DT Gerald McCoy and RB Doug Martin as questionable for Thursday nightís game against the Falcons, but it doesnít look like either one of them will be on the field. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that McCoy and Martin are both unlikely to be active for the NFC South matchup. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: Martin is expected to test his knee before the call is officially made to deactivate him, so there is still a glimmer of hope for his owners that he'll be able to play in what should be a juicy matchup. If he cannot go, then Bobby Rainey is a high-end RB2 play. McCoy's absence should allow Matt Ryan & Co. to feel a bit more comfortable in the pocket, meaning the Falcons have a shot to put up some stellar offensive numbers.

Injury Doug Martin questionable, expected to start
Head coach calls Martin "lead guy"
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 12, 7:00 pm

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Doug Martin practiced last week and, although he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, is expected back in the lineup against the St. Louis Rams. "I've talked about how important Doug is to us," (Lovie) Smith said. "Just our running game in general, we were trying to get it going with all of our guys. Doug is our lead guy. We weren't able to for whatever reason this first game, but we'll stay committed to it." (Tampa Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Martin was removed from last week's game due to a knee injury but should get the start when the Bucs host the Rams on Sunday. Bobby Rainey will serve as Martin's backup. Martin has RB2 upside but needs a solid performance this week to ease the minds of his fantasy owners.
