|When RGIII is the man in front of you, you need to keep your helmet by your side. Cousins, a fourth-round pick in last year's draft, got into four games last season and was impressive, completing 33 of 48 passes for 466 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. If you need a bye-week fill-in and Cousins is on the wire with a decent matchup, he just might help win you a game.

Redskins open to trading backup QB
|The Washington Redskins want a second-round pick in the NFL draft if they are going to trade backup quarterback Kirk Cousins, according to a person familiar with the teamís planning. It also is not known if Redskins officials will remain adamant about wanting to receive a second-round choice for Cousins or if the team ultimately might be willing to part with him for a lesser compensation package. FF Today's Take: Cousins was a fourth-round pick in 2012 and new coach Jay Gruden has stated that Robert Griffin III is the starting quarterback. Cousins has stated that he would be open to a trade and the chance to start with another team. Ideally, the Redskins should keep Cousins for another season given RGIII's ups and downs and injury history, however given the number of QB-needy teams, a trade could easily be made for the 2nd-round compensation the Redskins are asking for.

QB has told Redskins management he wants to start
|With the Washington Redskins making it clear that Robert Griffin III is their starting quarterback, backup Kirk Cousins is open to being traded, league sources told ESPN. Cousins believes he is ready to start and already has had discussions with the Redskins' hierarchy, which declared Griffin as their starter last month. (ESPN)|
FF Today's Take: It's no surprise Cousins wants the opportunity to start but the Redskins should be happy with having Cousins in a backup role as insurance for RGIII. the Browns would be a logical landing spot for the QB given that former Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan has just landed in Cleveland.
