Injury Trio of Broncos return to practice
D. Thomas, Anderson and Welker all battling ankle injuries
By: Doug Orth | Thu Dec 11, 3:00 pm

FFToday's Take: Thomas' lack of involvement last week was curious and Anderson made the comment after the Broncos' win over the Bills that his ankle was bothering him, perhaps suggesting that Thomas' ankle was in worse shape than Anderson's. Ronnie Hillman also returned to practice on Thursday, although his Week 15 availability will probably limited at best. Anderson's owners should be able to breathe easy for this week at least, although it entirely possible that he has done enough in the coaches' minds to remain the featured back.

Injury Several notable Denver players miss practice
Julius Thomas limited
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Dec 10, 5:20 pm

Denver Broncos
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Head Coach John Fox had to take a deep breath after his 47-second recitation of an injury report that included 16 names, eight of whom did not practice Wednesday, with six others working on a limited basis. Headlining the eight players who did not practice were running back C.J. Anderson and wide receivers Wes Welker -- who missed last Wednesday's work -- and Demaryius Thomas, who played Sunday after suffering an ankle bruise when he was stepped on during practice Dec. 3. Joining Anderson, Welker and Thomas in missing practice were running back Montee Ball (groin), and tight end Jacob Tamme (ribs). Limited participants: running backs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Juwan Thompson (knee), and tight end Julius Thomas (ankle). Thomas said this has been "a much better week for me" than recent weeks, in which he also worked on a limited basis but did not play in the game. (DenverBroncos.com)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy owners of Denver's players will need to pay attention to the practice reports over the next couple of days. Some players, like Demaryius Thomas, would have suited up if needed but needed an extra day of rest. As the week progress, the injury picture in Denver should start to take form. Additionally, the running game could become muddled very quickly depending on who is healthy enough to play this weekend.

Injury Hillman has yet to practice this week
Mid-foot sprain

FFToday's Take: We did a blurb on Hillman being out at least two weeks on Monday and this suggests nothing has changed in that regard. Montee Ball, who is reportedly down to about 212 pounds after dropping 12 pounds during his five-week recovery from a groin injury, is expected to return this week. Publicly, HC John Fox has stated the Broncos will ride the "hot hand" and feature "who's healthy." The player who fits both criteria right now is C.J. Anderson.

Injury Hillman expected to miss at least two weeks
HC John Fox calls midfoot sprain "day-to-day" injury
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 10, 4:55 pm

Denver Broncos
C.J. Anderson emerged just in time. Montee Ball is returning from injury just in time. The Broncos will be without Ronnie Hillman for at least two weeks after the starting running back suffered a midfoot sprain in his left foot Sunday, according to an NFL source. Broncos coach John Fox confirmed the injury, but only said Hillman was day-to-day. (Denver Post)

FFToday's Take: One of the backfield situations ripe with fantasy points on a weekly basis appears to have no clear leader right now. Fox stated Monday that his will depend "first and foremost" on "who's healthy", making Week 10 star C.J. Anderson the odds-on favorite for this week against the Rams. Ball is expected back after recovering from a five-week groin injury and dropped 12 pounds while he was away. Hillman's likely absence may allow Ball to fulfill his preseason fantasy hype after all.

Injury Montee Ball likely to miss several weeks
Groin strain

Denver Broncos
Broncos running back Montee Ball will not require surgery to repair the strained groin he suffered during a non-contact play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. However, Ball is expected to be sidelined several weeks, according to two NFL sources. Ball underwent a magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday. (Denver Post)

FFToday's Take: While HC John Fox would only say that he would "kind of update" the media on Wednesday, ESPN's Jeff Legwold reported that the second-year back's teammates expected him to miss 2-3 weeks. Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, who was inactive in Week 5 because he doesn't play special teams, figure to get the first shot at leading a likely committee backfield while Ball is out. Impressive UDFA Juwan Thompson could also be in the mix as well.
