2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Unlike the disappointment that fantasy owners got in Montee Ball, those who picked up Ronnie Hillman following Ballís injury in Week 4 were pleasantly surprised by the production they got out of the former third round NFL Draft pick. From Weeks 5 through 9, Hillman provided high-level fantasy production with 363 rushing yards and three touchdowns along with 17 receptions for 76 receiving yards and another touchdown. Thatís an average of 15.8 fantasy points per game in PPR formats, good enough to make him an RB1 over that span.

But Hillmanís breakout season was cut short when he suffered a foot injury in Week 10 that kept him out of action until Week 17, but Anderson had run away with the starting job by that point and Anderson was only brought in to close out what was a blowout win over the Raiders. He took just two carries in the playoff loss to the Colts, which is more in line with what he will likely get to start the 2015 season unless something happens to Anderson. Those looking for a lottery ticket late in drafts could look to Hillman who could end up beating out Ball for the 1B job in Denver, but he is considered the RB3 by most analysts as we head into the preseason.

Cowboys trying to acquire RB Ball from Broncos?
Rumors abound that Dallas is looking to add the elusive RB
By: John Canario | Fri Sep 4, 3:50 pm

Dallas Cowboys
After maintaining all offseason that they're perfectly happy with their running back triumvirate of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar, the Dallas Cowboys are discussing a trade for Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball, according to a report from Vic Lombardi of CBS 104.3 in Denver. Ball, a former second-round pick out of Wisconsin, was the starter for the Broncos during the early part of the 2014 season, but the combination of injuries and ineffectiveness led to him losing carries to Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson. He played in just five games, starting three, and carried 55 times for a total of 172 yards (3.1 per carry) and one touchdown. (CBS Sports)

FFToday's Take: If Ball gets moved from Denver to Dallas, his fantasy value will receive a massive boost. With Randle and McFadden both underwhelming throughout camp and into the preseason, Ball would likely inherit the majority of the touches that were given to DeMarco Murray last year. Stay tuned...

Hillman now the 1B runner in Denver?
RB has 120 yards on 16 carries through two exhibition games
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 24, 3:45 pm

Denver Broncos
In two preseason games, Ronnie Hillman sped past Montee Ball on the depth chart on his way to 120 yards rushing on 16 carries - 7.5 yards per carry. Hillman is now the 1B runner behind C.J. Anderson. "I'm not worried about 1B and all that because that'll drive you crazy," Hillman said. Meanwhile, second-year back Juwan Thompson may also be moving past Ball, whose slump continues. Hilllman (8 carries, 54 yards), Thompson (five carries, 32 yards) and Anderson (4 for 24) all averaged at least 6.0 yards per carry. (9News Denver)

FFToday's Take: It's important to remember a month ago that Thompson was "making a push for No. 2" and Ball has been the second man through in both of the Broncos' preseason games. The most likely scenario all along as been Anderson seeing roughly 18-20 touches/game and the second back - whomever that ends up being - collecting the scraps. HC Gary Kubiak has enjoyed success with this setup before, most recently in 2011 when Arian Foster finished as the RB4 and Ben Tate the RB28 in Houston.
