2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
After years of frustrating fantasy owners in Indianapolis, Coby Fleener has taken his act to the bayou by inking a five-year pact with the Saints. He was never able to truly break out while sharing time with Dwayne Allen but will be the leading man for the Saints this season. A year ago, an old Ben Watson finished with the second most receptions and touchdowns in this offense. The Stanford alum provides New Orleans with more versatility and athleticism from the position. The situation is ripe for him to post career bests across the board. Consequently, fantasy owners will enter the fantasy year with renewed optimism regarding Fleener as a TE1 and make him a popular mid-round pick. Josh Hill returns after the team matched an offer sheet from the Chicago Bears. He will have trouble finding targets now that he is returning to a situational role in the offense.

Coby Fleener still 'work in progress' in Saints O
Payton says TE has details "he's got to work on"
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 23, 11:22 am

New Orleans
Some of the finer points of the TE position could limit Coby Fleener's opportunities as he adjusts to a new offense, according to Saints HC Sean Payton: "I'd say it's an ongoing progression," Payton said Monday of Fleener's adjustment process. "I think, man, there's some plays that are real good, and then there's some plays where we've got to be a little bit more detailed and that's something that I know he's got to work on." (Nola.com)

FFToday's Take: Even though the Saints oddly listed Fleener as the No. 3 tight end on their unofficial depth chart before last week's game in Houston, he's clearly the top tight end for the passing game, both from his performance this summer and his five-year, $36 million contract. Josh Hill and Michael Hoomanawanui are also on the roster, but neither has the pass-catching ability of Fleener.

Willie Snead more than holding his own
Former UDFA clearly in QB's "circle of trust"
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 8, 5:10 pm

New Orleans
If there were any concerns about Willie Snead being trumped by some of the newcomers at receiver, those concerns have evaporated. Snead has looked even better than last season, and itís clear heís right in the middle of Breesí circle of trust. When things were going poorly Saturday with Brandin Cooks sidelined, Snead was the receiver Brees locked in on to carry the offense. Snead should remain an important member of the offense. If he doesnít get enough targets to flirt with 1,000 yards again, it wonít be because of regression. It will be because the offense has more weapons. (New Orleans Advocate)

FFToday's Take: The other weapons being most notably second-round rookie Michael Thomas and free-agent signing Coby Fleener. As the writer suggests, more weapons - and not regression - will likely be the reason Snead falls short of his 69-984-3 from a season ago. While Snead is unlikely to finish as the WR32 in PPR again this season, he should still be a more-than-serviceable low-end WR3 or high-floor WR4.
