|Cecil Shorts enters 2014 as the most successful fantasy wideout on the team. He also will try to help fans and fantasy owners forget the frustration of Justin Blackmon. Yet a calf injury for the second consecutive preseason has kept Jacksonville's top receiver sidelined for most of mini-camp practices. A return during training camp is likely, however, past shoulder and concussion injuries added to the negative perception around Jacksonville's lack of passing game will keep Shorts' 2014 projections at bay. Despite the inherent injury risks, Shorts represents a player entering a contract year who should consistently see balls thrown his way. Last year, he saw double-digit targets in nine of his 13 games. That trend should continue, making him a stronger value in deeper PPR leagues.
Comment: Shorts (hamstring) has miss a couple weeks of camp. His nagging offseason injuries are a concern.
|Jags GM optimistic on return of Justin Blackmon|
Jags hope to receive more clarity before NFL Draft

|On if he would welcome back suspended receiver Justin Blackmon if he’s reinstated:
“Absolutely. As a matter of fact, I’m very optimistic. I think he’s paid his dues. I think he’s got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We’re waiting for him.” (Florida Times Union)|
FFToday's Take: Speaking at the Super Bowl festivities, Jacksonville owner Shad Khan seems positive about Blackmon who is currently suspended infinitely and it remains unclear when he will apply for reinstatement. Allen Robinson (foot) and Cecil Shorts (free agent) are currently sitting atop the depth chart.
| Allen Hurns (concussion) expected to play Week 12|
Rookie named starter opposite Cecil Shorts III

|Gus Bradley said wide receiver Marqise Lee continues to practice well. Bradley said before the bye the rookie had had his best two weeks of practice, and he said he had another good practice Monday.
“He’s showing his competitiveness,” Bradley said. “I think it’s just his mindset and he’s really taking advantage of this opportunity.” Lee’s opportunity is coming in the wake of a season-ending injury to rookie Allen Robinson, who is expected to undergo foot surgery this week. With Robinson out, Bradley on Monday said rookie Allen Hurns and veteran Cecil Shorts III will start, but that Lee will move into the third receiver role.
FFToday's Take: Hurns is a viable deep threat in the Jaguars offense but Cecil Shorts III will likely see a ton of targets this week against the Colts. Hurns is expected to be cleared from the concussion protocol and both he and the veteran Shorts make interesting plays this week in what should be a high-scoring game.
| Cecil Shorts misses practice Thursday|
Expects to play Sunday
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 6, 10:21 am
|Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts sat out today’s practice at The Grove with hamstring tightness but anticipates playing Sunday against Dallas.
“Taking today off to rest it and then go out there and practice [Friday] and go from there,” Shorts said before practice. “I felt good waking up this morning and [the trainers] were happy with my strength.” (Florida Times Union)|
FFToday's Take: Today was a rest day for the Jags receiver. As long as he makes it through practice on Friday without any setbacks he should be good to go Sunday against the Cowboys. Shorts is nothing more than a WR4. He's topped 41 receiving yards only once this season.
