2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Those who bought into Kyle Shanahan as the wide receiver whisperer were rewarded by Julio Jones’ huge 2015 fantasy output. As the only player to eclipse 200 targets, Jones joins Antonio Brown as fantasy football’s top two receiving options entering 2016. Can he repeat his gaudy numbers again? Considering the team missed the playoffs and went 2-5 in games where Matt Ryan had 40 or more passing attempts it seems likely that the offense won’t be trying to win ballgames through the air in 2016. The addition of a more capable No.2 option in the passing attack also makes it unlikely that Jones will see bulk targets as frequently as he did in 2015- he posted six games with at least 15 balls thrown his way. That doesn’t mean Jones won’t be a solid WR1 for fantasy purposes, however it does mean it will be tough for him to repeat last year’s huge season. Atlanta is counting on Mohamed Sanu’s presence and an established ground game to keep defenses from stacking coverage on Jones’ side of the field. If successful, Matt Ryan should be able to take advantage of more downfield passes in Jones’ direction. As a result, owners playing in “bonus” leagues that award extra points for long pass plays will want to pay a little more for Atlanta’s leading receiver. Owners will have to pony up for a high-volume and consistent player like Jones; especially in PPR leagues where he should be one of the first five players drafted.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Julio Jones misses second straight practice
Expected to play in NFC Championship
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jan 19, 2:05 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Julio Jones (toe) won't practice for the second consecutive day today but says he'll be ready to go Sunday in the NFC Championship Game. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Reports concerning Jones' progress throughout the week will be important to track. If active, Jones is expected to see a lot of Ladarius Gunter, who gave up the bulk of Dez Bryant's 9-132-2 line last week. A mostly healthy Jones could easily match that production.

Injury Julio Jones back on the practice field
Ran full speed but only in limited parts of the session
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 21, 2:00 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones moved closer to his return from a toe injury by joining full-speed drills in Wednesday's practice. Jones has missed two straight games with a sprained toe. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said Jones ran full speed but only in limited parts of the session. "It was his first time back in a few weeks,: Shanahan said. "You don't want him to just take all the reps. We were being careful with him and hopefully he'll be able to go on Sunday." (Yahoo Sports)

FFToday's Take: The Falcons actually play on Saturday in a great matchup against the Panthers. It sounds like Julio may be active this week but we should be better picture of his status after practice on Thursday.

Injury Julio Jones to "participate some" in practice
Falcons WR could return in Week 16
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 20, 1:39 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Knox Bardeen (@knoxbardeen) on Twitter: "Jalen Collins and Julio Jones will "participate some" in practice today, per Dan Quinn. No official #Falcons injury report until Wednesday." (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Looks like Julio Jones has a shot to play this week, even if his practice is limited. If not, Taylor Gabriel and Aldrick Robinson would get a bump in value. Stay tuned.

Injury Julio Jones ruled out
Toe injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 16, 1:00 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones (sprain toe) will not play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, coach Dan Quinn said on Friday. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

FFToday's Take: While Jones is out, WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) is expected to play leaving Matt Ryan with Sanu, Taylor Gabriel and Aldrick Robinson as his main weapons on the outside. Sanu and Gabriel are worth WR3 or Flex consideration.

Injury Falcons will try to "push" Julio Jones on Friday
WR still not practicing
By: Doug Orth | Thu Dec 15, 7:40 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) sat out practice for a second consecutive day Thursday and is questionable to play against the 49ers on Sunday at the Georgia Dome. Coach Dan Quinn said Jones participated in Thursday’s light walk-through session. The Falcons plan to have Jones “push it” Friday and will clear him to play when Jones is “able to explode pain-free,” Quinn said. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like he has a chance to play this week, but the Falcons will probably err on the side of caution if they have any doubts with the 49ers next up on the schedule. Jones will be an elite WR1 play if he goes, but Taylor Gabriel has been producing like a low-end WR1 for a while now and would be a solid start once again if Jones sits.

Injury Julio to miss practice Wednesday
Toe injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 13, 4:00 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Sirius XM NFL Radio that Julio Jones will not practice with the rest of the team on Wednesday due to the toe injury that kept him out in Week 14. Quinn said that the team will see how he feels later in the week before determining his status. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Julio won't be seeing the practice field much this week and it won't be a big shock if he doesn't play against the 49ers... a team the Falcons can likely beat at home without their superstar wide receiver. We'll get a better indication of Julio's status later in the week.

Injury Julio's status still a question mark
Gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 11, 8:00 am

Atlanta Falcons
On Friday & early Saturday, it seemed Julio Jones was not going to play. But he did participate in the walkthrough. That keeps the door open (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It's going to difficult for fantasy owners to plug Julio in their lineup given he's going to test his injured toe in pregame warmups. The Falcons and Rams don't play until late this afternoon. Jones could be active and be a decoy for most of the game. At this point, Julio owners should strongly consider plan B.

Injury Falcons anticipating Julio Jones will play
Listed as Questionable, gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 9, 1:45 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said WR Julio Jones (turf toe) is questionable and will be a game-time decision vs. Rams Sunday, but Quinn is anticipating Jones will play. WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) has been ruled out. LT Jake Matthews (knee) is questionable but looks good, Quinn said. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Mohamed Sanu has already been ruled out so the Falcons could certainly use Julio's services against the Bucs. The issue for fantasy owners is the Falcons don't play until late afternoon on Sunday. It's sounding like Julio will be active but hopefully we'll get a better idea of his status Sunday morning.

Injury Julio, Sanu miss practice Wednesday
Jones has MRI on toe
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 7, 1:30 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons coach Dan Quinn says WR Julio Jones, LT Jake Matthew, WR Mohamed Sanu, DE Dwight Freeney will not practice today. Jones had a MRI on his turf toe. Has a chance to play vs. Rams (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

FFToday's Take: With the Falcons playing the lowly Rams, it's possible the Falcons may rest Julio this week but we should know more on his status after Thursday's practice. If Sanu misses, Taylor Gabriel and the Falcons running backs would likely play a large role in Week 14.

Injury Julio dealing with turf toe
Missed time during fourth quarter
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Dec 5, 2:15 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Julio Jones has turf toe injury. Quinn said it doesn't appear to be serious but it will be monitored. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Jones was on the sidelines during the fourth quarter of the Falcons loss to the Chiefs. While the injury isn't considered serious, Jones has a history spending time on the sidelines during games nursing injuries. He'll likely suit up against the Rams.
