2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Only 25 years old and still getting better, A.J. Green gives fantasy owners everything they want in an elite No. 1 wide receiver. Green finished in the top six in targets, receptions, yards and touchdowns. Redraft, Dynasty, PPR or Standard, Green stacks up in any fantasy format. He has increased his totals during each of his three years in the league and has the benefit of being on a team with a young offensive nucleus, which should mean solid production for years to come. Clearly a top-five fantasy wide receiver, there are a few things than could prevent him from reaching the top of the charts. Despite being 6'4'', Green is slightly built at only 204 lbs., as most players in his height class are 220+ lbs. This lack of bulk might explain his poor catch percentage inside the red zone the past two seasons – 20 catches on 42 targets or 48 percent. Another interesting stat is his red zone touchdown numbers. In 2012, Green scored eight or his 10 total touchdowns inside the 20. Last year he only scored half that number and watched teammate Marvin Jones score nine. These numbers can easily be contributed to increased defensive attention, but this actually could be an area where Green can improve. Offseason training reports seem to indicate that Green has worked to bulk up. An increased dependability near the goal line is a reason why he will maintain his elite status despite the Bengals planned dedication to the run game. Expect a slight dip in receptions and yards, but Green will remain a consistent threat who scores at least 10 times each season, doesn't miss games, has a good head on his shoulders and looks like a WR1 as much as anyone in the league.

Injury HC: "A.J. Green has made tremendous progress"
Toe injury has sidelined WR last two games
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 20, 6:20 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Marvin Lewis says he believes A.J. Green has made tremendous progress. He looks forward to seeing how he progresses this week. (Coley Harvey on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It is not a safe bet for Green to return for Week 8, so owners should be prepared to be without his services again. However, it is possible the Bengals - coming off a shutout loss to the Colts on Sunday - may feel a bit of urgency to get Green back on the field in order to play against Baltimore. At best, he is probably shaping up to be a game-time decision.

Injury A.J. Green has "a little bit more than turf toe"
WR almost certainly out Week 6, if not beyond
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 9, 5:25 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green’s Pro Bowl toe is now in the hands of a blue-ribbon panel of doctors and while Bengaldom holds its collective breath. Wednesday’s MRI is going to send him to another consultation with one of the nation’s leading foot specialists when he meets with Cincinnati doctor James Amis on Thursday. It’s believed the MRI again showed no tears or breaks, but he’s obviously still having discomfort in the ligament under the sesamoid bone in the ball of the foot underneath the big toe. (Bengals.com)

FFToday's Take: HC Marvin Lewis told former NFL player Ross Tucker on his podcast that Green has "a little bit more than (turf toe)". Turf toe is a difficult enough condition to play through, so an injury more serious than that could be damning for Green's 2014 prospects. In the short term, Mohamed Sanu should be the clear top option among Bengals' receivers, especially since Marvin Jones is not close to returning. Dane Sanzenbacher is also worth considering in PPR leagues as well.

Injury A.J. Green leaves practice on cart
Aggravated his toe injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 8, 2:05 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green appeared to aggravate the toe injury that kept him out against the Falcons. During the stretching period of practice open to the media, Green appeared injured and visibly upset. He threw off his helmet and shoe in disgust and was eventually taken off on a cart. He was able to walk, but with a limp. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

FFToday's Take: We'll have to wait for further information but it appears Green aggravated his toe injury. Marvin Jones (ankle) also missed practice today and doesn't appear close to playing. Mohamed Sanu and Dane Sanzenbacher would likely be the starting receivers if both Green and Jones are out.

Injury A.J. Green expects to play Sunday
No soreness in foot
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 19, 10:25 am

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green told the Bengals' official team website he "feels good" and plans to play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Green strained a ligament in his foot last weekend, forcing him out most of the contest. He missed practice Wednesday and caught a few passes Thursday, but was limited in practice. Friday morning the receiver said he has "no soreness" and if he feels similarly Sunday, he'll play. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Bengals have a bye in Week 4 and could easily hold him out giving him extra rest for Week 5 but it appears Green will be on the field this week against Tennessee. Owners should temper their expectations given the risk of aggravating the injury, plus the Bengals are likely to incorporate a run-heavy gameplan.

Injury A.J. Green likely out until Week 5
Turf toe
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 15, 4:35 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Although the Cincinnati Bengals' victory over the Atlanta Falcons was a pyrrhic one, the early signs on A.J. Green's toe injury are positive. If Green can't go against the Tennessee Titans this week, the Bengals' official website expects him to be ready after the Week 4 bye for the Oct. 5 game in New England. Green's ligament strain knocked him out of Sunday's bout on the opening series, but did not require crutches after the game. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Bengals' Week 4 bye couldn't come at a better time for Green, who was held without a catch for the first time in his career after playing only six snaps in Week 2. Expect Cincinnati to focus even more on its running game against the Titans and look for Mohamed Sanu to remain Andy Dalton's primary target again.
