2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Riley Cooper made headlines during the last offseason as a result of being caught on tape using a racial slur. To his and his teammates credit he was able to move past it quickly and rewarded his teammates faith in him by helping the Eagles reach the postseason as their second-best wide receiver. On the way, he put up a 47-833-8 stat-line and was an integral part of the rushing attack as well due to his skills as a blocker. Cooper, who isn't known for his blazing speed was able to average 17.8 yards per reception due to his strong frame (6'3, 222 lbs.) and the trust of his quarterback, Nick Foles, who wasn't afraid to put the ball up where Cooper could go up and fight for it. This season may be a little tougher for Cooper without Desean Jackson's downfield speed drawing safety coverage. The team was impressed enough with Cooper's game, though, to sign him to a five-year $25 million contract this offseason. He should also see himself in the starting lineup once again. With Jackson's departure and with a full season of Foles throwing him the ball, Cooper could be in for an even bigger season in 2014.

Ertz poised for breakout season
Philly evolving without DeSean Jackson
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Aug 27, 3:00 am

Philadelphia Eagles
Zach Ertz was eased into the offense as a rookie last season by coach Chip Kelly. He played 36 percent of the offensive snaps in the Eagles' first eight games and 45 percent in the final eight. As Ertz gained experience last season, Kelly went to more two-tight end sets. The Eagles used two- and three-tight end formations only 17.5 percent of the time in the first eight games, but 37.7 percent in the last eight. "You knew when you watched him in college that he had the chance to be something special," Eagles tight ends coach Ted Williams said. "He's one of the best route-runners I've ever seen. He takes a lot of pride in that." (Philly.com)

FFToday's Take: With an expanded role in 2014, Zach Ertz should take another step forward in overall production. However, he will have to fight for targets in an offense that also includes two capable receivers out of the backfield and a healthy Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper on the outside.

Jordan Matthews "could be a star in the future"
Drawing comparisons for sporting T.O.-like physique
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jul 17, 4:25 pm

Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles' additions are intriguing. RB Darren Sproles figures to be as versatile and unpredictable under Chip Kelly as he was in New Orleans for Sean Payton. Second-round draft pick WR Jordan Matthews had people at OTAs comparing his physique to that of Terrell Owens and could be a star in the future. Meanwhile, TE Zach Ertz is expected to take that key second-season leap in production and reliability. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Comparing Matthews' physique to Terrell Owens' is a bit of preseason hyperbole, but fantasy owners would be wise to not underestimate the potential for the SEC's all-time leading receiver to contribute in his first year. He'll start out as the main slot receiver, but could easily knock Riley Cooper out of a starting job by midseason.
