Patriots sign Tim Tebow     -- Mon Jun 10 5:45 pm --

Conflicting reports about position
The Patriots have signed Tim Tebow, a league source confirmed to the Globe's Shalise Manza Young. The quarterback is expected to join the team at its minicamp Tuesday. Tebow was released by the New York Jets in April after they drafted quarterback Geno Smith. Tebow played one season in New York after two in Denver. Tebow was drafted by the Broncos in 2010 after winning two national championships at Florida. Patriots OC Josh McDaniels was the Broncos head coach at the time. (Boston Herald)

FF Today's Take: Although it was thought his career as a NFL quarterback was over, the team has already released third-string QB Mike Kafka. With that said, it is entirely possible that McDaniels and HC Bill Belichick has a specialty role in mind for him, perhaps as an emergency quarterback who can get some snaps in as a running back and/or tight end. Or perhaps he is just being brought in for minicamp. Either way, the Patriots have bought themselves some media attention this summer.
