|Packers sign Jimmy Graham, Jordy Nelson released|
$10.2 million saved in cap space by releasing Nelson
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Mar 13, 4:30 pm
|The Packers reached a verbal agreement with tight end Jimmy Graham on Tuesday, according to a source, and plan to sign him when free agency opens Wednesday afternoon. To make room for Graham, general manager Brian Gutekunst released veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson. The team announced Nelson's departure in a news release. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)|
FFToday's Take: Whoa. Graham and the Saints had mutual interest in a reunion but the deal couldn't be hammered out. Graham is lucky enough to have a decent consolation prize in catching passes and TDs from Aaron Rodgers. Graham was basically a redzone threat for Seattle last year and could fill a similar role in Green Bay especially now that Jordy Nelson (32) has been released. Nelson spent 10 years with the Packers but his production fell off a cliff last season finishing with a 53-482-6 line. Green Bay saves $10.2 million against the cap by releasing Nelson.
|Jimmy Graham, Seahawks expected to part ways|
New Orleans reunion?
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Mar 5, 1:00 pm
|Jimmy Graham and the #Seahawks are expected to part ways in free agency, and Graham will draw interest from a bunch of teams - including the #Saints, sources say. Reunion coming? (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: There have been multiple reports this off-season that Graham is likely out in Seattle, countered by a quote from head coach Pete Carrol that he'd "love" to re-sign the redzone tight end. Graham led all tights in touchdowns (10) last season, finishing 4th in FPts scored and 5th in FPts/G at the position. Potential fits include New Orleans, Baltimore, Houston, Green Bay, Jacksonville and Atlanta.
