2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Despite playing in only eight regular season games in 2016 (six full games), Rob Gronkowski finished the season with 540 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He posted double digit fantasy points in all but one of those six games, including seven catches for 162 yards and a touchdown Week 6 against the Bengals.

When healthy, Gronk is the biggest difference maker in fantasy football, and his ability to outperform everyone at his position makes him one of the most valuable players in the game. The problem is that he has only played in one 16-game season since joining the league in 2010, and it is almost a certainty that he will miss at least a few games this year.

The other issue with taking Gronk in the second round is the opportunity cost of passing on No.1 running back and wide receiving options for a player as volatile as Gronkowski. But if he plays at least ten games in 2017, he is all but guaranteed double digit touchdowns and 1000 yards.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Chris Hogan good to go for Monday night
Pats receiver hasn't played since Week 8
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Dec 11, 11:40 am

New England Patriots
Patriots’ WR Chris Hogan, who has missed the last four games with a shoulder injury, will play tonight vs. Miami Dolphins, per league source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Hogan has been out since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 8. With Rob Gronkowski missing this game due to suspension, Hogan has a decent chance to return WR3/Flex value against the Dolphins.

Gronk suspended one game for late hit
Gronkowski will appeal the penalty
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Dec 4, 3:30 pm

New England Patriots
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been suspended one game by the NFL without pay for his late hit on defenseless Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White in Sunday's 23-3 victory. Gronkowski, who was penalized on the play but not ejected from the game, can appeal the suspension. It is the first NFL suspension for Gronkowski since he entered the league as a second-round draft choice with the Patriots in 2010. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The late hit was egregious and he should be suspended. He's lucky he wasn't kicked out of the game. The Pats play the Dolphins in Week 14. Dwayne Allen would start in Gronk's absence but hasn't been involved in the offense for much of the season.

Injury Gronk gets in a limited practice Thursday
Sidelined by illness
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 23, 4:30 pm

New England Patriots
Rob Gronkowski (illness) was also a limited participant at practice, while TE Martellus Bennett (shoulder/hamstring) did not participate. (ESPN - Mike Reiss)

FFToday's Take: There's been nothing to suggest Gronk won't be ready for Week 12 versus the Miami Dolphins. Although his fantasy production has been lacking lately, he is still a top-three play at tight end regardless of his matchup. Bennett is a low-end TE2 play at best if Gronk plays.

Martellus Bennett back with New England
Claimed off waivers from Green Bay
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 9, 7:00 pm

New England Patriots
Former Packers’ TE Martellus Bennett claimed on waivers by the New England Patriots, per source. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)

FFToday's Take: Dwayne Allen has yet to catch a pass and Bennett is regarded as one of the league's best run-blocking tight ends, so the former could be on the way out of Foxboro soon. Bennett is one season removed from posting 55 catches for 701 yards and seven touchdowns with the Patriots during a season in which Rob Gronkowski struggled to stay healthy. Gronk has stayed healthy for the most part this season, so Bennett will likely be a high-upside TE2 at best until something changes.

Injury Gronk will play versus Jets
Thigh contusion
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Oct 11, 1:30 pm

New England Patriots
FOXBORO - Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's absence will be limited to one game. Gronk missed the Pats’ victory against the Buccaneers last Thursday due to a thigh contusion that resulted from a leg whip four days earlier against the Panthers, according to a source. But at this point, Gronkowski will be ready Sunday when the Patriots meet the Jets at MetLife Stadium. As for the delayed designation on the injury report, contusions can often worsen in the days after impact. But now a week and a half later, all signs point toward Gronkowski returning to game action this weekend in New Jersey. (Boston Herald)

FFToday's Take: Rob Gronkowski will play a pivotal role this weekend as the Patriots take on a feisty Jets defense that has limited opponents to 21.2 points per game this season. Barring a setback in practice this week, Gronk should be in all lineups for Week 6.

Injury Gronkowski not expected to play, thigh injury
Gronk to miss Week 5
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 5, 6:00 pm

New England Patriots
Updated: Patriots’ TE Rob Gronkowski is not expected to play tonight vs Bucs, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: We got word earlier today that Gronk could be limited, but not it appears he will sit out Thursday night. Dwayne Allen should fill the tight end role but he's difficult to trust as anything more than a TE2 given his limited usage this season (0 catches). Expect more work in the passing game to go to Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and James White.

Injury Gronkowski could be limited
Thigh injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 5, 7:30 am

New England Patriots
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh), a late addition to the injury report, is expected to play. But he figures to be limited some vs #Bucs. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Gronk will be on the field Thursday night, but his usage remains in question. Still, if he starts, he should be in your lineup unless we get further indication his role will be significantly reduced.

Injury Gronkowski, Amendola back at practice
Rex Burkhead sits
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 20, 1:00 pm

New England Patriots
TE Rob Gronkowski (groin) is present at practice today, as are LB Dont'a Hightower (knee) and WR Danny Amendola (concussion/knee). (Mike Reiss on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This confirms that Gronk's goin injury last week was minor. He should be good to go in Week 3 barring any setback. Amendola's presence will likely put a dent in the fantasy value of Chris Hogan who is dealing with a knee injury. Rex Burkhead (ribs) missed practice Wednesday.
