Beanie Wells still rehabbing knee-- Fri May 18 7:30 pm -- Cardinals RB might not be ready for OTAs
Five months removed from a second surgery on his right knee in 16 months, Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells is focusing on being ready for training camp and is not sure if he'll be on the practice field when the team begins its OTAs on Tuesday. "I am hopeful, but it’s offseason stuff," Wells told Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com. "Being ready for training camp is the most important thing." A 2009 first-round pick, Wells is coming off his most productive season, starting 14 of 15 games and rushing for 1,047 yards and 10 touchdowns while playing in over 55 percent of the Cardinals offensive snaps.(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:Wells frustrated fantasy owners with inconsistency in 2011, posting three of his best fantasy performances in his first three games before disappearing for stretches over the remainder of the season. The 23-year-old is a punishing running back though and if healthy in 2012, he could post career numbers in rushing yards and touchdowns.
Ryan Williams "not worried"-- Mon May 7 6:00 pm -- Recovery from torn patella tendon going well
Ryan Williams knows there are people who doubt he can return to form this season after his patella tendon ruptured last year, ruining his rookie season. He knows, ultimately, he can’t prove anything until the season starts.
“This situation, I’m not going to say it was fun to go through, but it’s nothing. I believe in myself and I believe I will be back...I still have time. I am running and cutting and doing things I didn’t think I’d be doing this early. I’m not worried about it.”(azcardinals.com)
FF Today's Take:The Cardinals must have confidence in Williams since the Cards didn’t draft a running back nor sign an undrafted rookie. Starter Beanie Wells is still rehabbing from his own knee surgery, so Arizona is rolling the dice for now. If Williams can regain most of his form this season, he should make for a nice flex option in fantasy leagues as Wells' change-of-pace and the team's passing-down RB.
