2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
There was a time when Schaub appeared on the verge of establishing himself as a bona fide upper tier fantasy starting quarterback. After averaging 4,570 passing yards, 26.5 touchdowns and 13.5 interceptions during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Schaub saw his 2011 season cut short after ten games due to a Lisfranc sprain in his foot. He averaged a respectable 19.2 FPts/G last season, which was good enough to finish 11th among fantasy QBs. While that was only 2.6 PPG off his career-high in 2009, the NFL has become more of a passing league over the last couple of years. That fact coupled with the emergence not only of Arian Foster but also Ben Tate in the backfield has put a severe damper on Schaubís fantasy prospects. The Texans are now more of a running team and the absence of a solid starting wide receiver opposite Andre Johnson and the failure of tight end Owen Daniels to reclaim his 2009 form are also impediments to Schaub reclaiming fantasy glory. Consider him a mid to lower tier QB2 in 2012.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Jimmy Clausen expected to start     -- Sun Dec 13 8:45 am --

Schaub dealing with chest and shoulder injuries
Ravens QB Jimmy Clausen will start today vs. Seattle, per source. Question is whether Matt Schaub will beOK to be No. 2; uncertain. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: As if the Ravens haven't dealt with enough injuries this season, it appears they will be turning to their No.3 quarterback here in Week 14. Clausen started against the Seahawks back in Week 3 as a member of the Bears and was held to 63 passing yards. Even on the road, the Seahawks are an elite D/ST play.
Injury Schaub misses practice again Friday     -- Fri Dec 11 8:05 pm --

Clausen could start for Ravens this week
If Matt Schaub can't play Sunday, Jimmy Clausen would become the sixth quarterback in NFL history since 1950 to start for two different teams against the same team in one season, according to STATS. Another missed day of practice for Baltimore quarterback Matt Schaub means another step closer to some quirky NFL history potentially being made when the Ravens play the Seahawks on Sunday. Schaub is listed as Baltimoreís starting quarterback, having replaced the injured Joe Flacco. But Schaub missed practice again Friday due to a chest injury suffered Sunday against Miami. And if Schaub canít play Sunday against Seattle, then Jimmy Clausen would get the start. The same Jimmy Clausen who started for the Chicago Bears against the Seahawks on Sept. 27 in Seattle, serving then as a replacement for the injured Jay Cutler. (Seattle Times)

FF Today's Take: Most importantly, Clausen under center would have a negative impact on the appeal of starting Kamar Aiken this week. Javorius Allen's stock takes a hit too, as he and Schaub appeared to have developed some chemistry in the passing game last week.
Injury Flacco, Forsett to miss the rest of the season     -- Mon Nov 23 4:10 pm --

Matt Schaub, Buck Allen to move up the depth chart
Joe Flacco will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL and possibly a torn MCL, coach John Harbaugh announced after the Ravens' win over the Rams. The team also lost Pro Bowl running back Justin Forsett for the rest of the season due to a broken arm. Forsett, Flacco, No. 1 receiver Steve Smith, defensive captain Terrell Suggs, speedy first-round draft pick Breshad Perriman and center Jeremy Zuttah have all been injured for the Ravens. (NFL.com)

FF Today's Take: The Ravens should be an obvious offense to target each week for fantasy defense streamers. (The Browns, Dolphins and Seahawks are next on the schedule.) Matt Schaub, who has a 10:16 TD-to-INT ratio over the last two years, has been mostly terrible over that time and will not have elite receiver at his disposal to make him look better. Javorius Allen should see as many touches as he can handle moving forward, making him a reasonable fantasy RB2 or quality flex option.
