Ravens sign Schaub for backup QB duties-- Tue Mar 31 1:00 pm --
Will backup Joe Flacco
The Baltimore Ravens signed Matt Schaub to be their backup quarterback Tuesday. The Ravens did not disclose terms of the contract, but a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Schaub agreed to a one-year deal worth $3 million.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Schaub was released by Raiders after appearing in only two games last season, throwing for 57 yards and two interceptions. Schaub lost his starting gig to Derek Carr before the season ever started. He'll serve as a backup to Joe Flacco with Keith Wenning penciled in as the No.3 quarterback.
Raiders release QB Matt Schaub-- Mon Mar 16 5:00 pm --
Ponder and McGloin to battle for backup spot
In an unsurprising move the Oakland Raiders announced they have released quarterback Matt Schaub.
The Raiders traded a sixth-round pick for Schaub last offseason, but the 33-year-old lost the starting job to Derek Carr before the season even started. Schaub became even more expendable when the Raiders signed quarterback Christian Ponder last week. Ponder and Matt McGloin will now battle for the No. 2 gig behind Carr.(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:Things aren't looking up in your NFL career if you're cut for Christian Ponder. Schaub was the No.20 fantasy quarterback in 2012 but hasn't been the same player since. He'll have an outside chance at a backup job with another team but his fantasy value is nill until further notice.
