2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Johnson followed up his breakout 2010 campaign with another solid year in 2011, topping 1,000 receiving yards for the second consecutive season and becoming the first player in team history to accomplish the feat. He also became just the third Bills player to record at least 70 receptions in consecutive seasons. Thatís all good and so is the fact that he is clearly the teamís undisputed top wide receiver and that he signed a lucrative contract extension in the offseason, negating any potential for a preseason holdout. The bad news is that the Bills did little to upgrade the starting position opposite Johnson, meaning he can expect plenty of attention in 2012. Johnson also underwent groin surgery, which bothered him during part of last season, but reports indicate that it was minor and wonít affect his availability for the beginning of training camp. While the naysayers will point out that Johnson isnít regarded as an upper tier wide receiver (and that is likely the case), the bottom line is that he has been the focal point of the teamís passing attack over each of the last two years, finishing in the top ten in targets amongst wide receivers both seasons and there is little to suggest he wonít do so again in 2012. Consider him a rock solid WR2 for the coming season.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Chargers' Malcom Floyd has torn labrum     -- Tue Nov 10 7:00 pm --

Status "to be determined"
Malcom Floyd has sacrificed his body for deep passes since 2004. There is a chance the one Monday was his last. The Chargers wide receiver suffered a torn left labrum, a source said following an MRI on Tuesday. It remains to be seen if that play will be the final one of his NFL career. Floyd, 34, long has planned to retire after the 2015 season. The team is not rushing how it proceeds with Floyd. (San Diego Union Tribune)

FF Today's Take: It's very likely that Floyd will miss the remainder of the season but a determination on his availability has yet to be made. Expect Dontrelle Inman to move into a starting role along with Steve Johnson if Floyd is indeed out.
Injury Keenan Allen placed on Injured Reserve     -- Tue Nov 3 1:00 pm --

Lacerated kidney
It's official: Chargers WR Keenan Allen out for year, source says. Lacerated kidney. Headed to IR. But expected to make a full recovery. (Michael Gehlken on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Week 8 was a rough one in the NFL and Allen is the latest season-ending causality. In his absence, Malcom Floyd, Steve Johnson should see increased work along with Dontrelle Inman.
Injury Gates, Allen miss practice again on Thursday     -- Thu Oct 22 4:50 pm --

Knee and hip injuries, respectively
Like Antonio Gates (knee), WR Keenan Allen (hip) missing second straight practice. Philip Rivers working without a couple favorite targets. (Michael Gehlken on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Gates played 69 of 92 snaps last week and was in the Week 6 loss to the Packers until the end, so the Chargers are more than likely just playing it safe and giving him some rest. Allen is a bit more of a concern because he sat out the fourth quarter and overtime. Friday will be key for both players, but Allen's owners have more to worry about here than Gates'. Steve Johnson might return from a two-week absence, although it is possibly Rivers' top receivers versus Oakland could be Malcom Floyd and Dontrelle Inman.
