2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Saints love Thomas and his versatility. Unfortunately, they didnít like him enough entering last season to not draft Mark Ingram and sign Darren Sproles in free agency. Interestingly, it wasnít the presence of Sproles that caused Thomasí fantasy value to decline (he caught a career-high 50 passes), it was having to split goal line work with Ingram. Removing the 2010 season in which he appeared in just six games, Thomasí touchdowns have declined from 12 to eight to six. He was worth owning as a low end RB2 in 2008 and 2009 while averaging double digit fantasy PPG despite averaging between 10-13 touches per game. That wasnít the case in 2011 though, as his average PPG dropped to 8.4. With Ingram expected to be healthy in 2012 and Sproles coming off a career-season, not much is expected to change for Thomas. Basically, he needs Ingram or Sproles to be out with an injury to be a useful fantasy contributor but the presence of Chris Ivory even clouds that prognosis.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Pierre Thomas ruled out, Ingram to carry load     -- Wed Oct 29 5:24 pm --

Khiry Robinson listed as questionable
Charlotte -- New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas, linebacker David Hawthorne and fullback Austin Johnson are out for Thursday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Tight end Jimmy Graham, running back Khiry Robinson, linebacker Kyle Knox and center Jonathan Goodwin are listed as questionable. (Times-Picayune)

FF Today's Take: Saints running back Mark Ingram will get the bulk of the work on rushing downs while Travis Cadet will once again take over some of Pierre Thomas' role in the passing attack. The Panthers have been the fifth worst rush defense (135 rushing yards allowed per game) thus far in 2014 making Ingram a solid fantasy play this week. Meanwhile, Khiry Robinson (forearm) has not practiced all week and is unlikely to play despite being listed as questionable.
Injury Saints rule out Robinson, Thomas at RB     -- Sat Oct 25 7:15 am --

Ingram and Cadet to carry the load

FF Today's Take: Running back duties will fall on Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet against the Packers Sunday night. Cadet will be better play in PPR leagues but both have RB2 appeal.
Injury Graham among hobbled Saints     -- Thu Oct 23 5:40 pm --

Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas sit out; Graham limited
Saints RBs Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas held out of practice again Thursday. Jimmy Graham, Keenan Lewis limited again. No changes from Wednesday. (Mike Tripplett on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Graham's shoulder injury is reportedly similar to the one Jordan Cameron has dealt with for most of the season, but the Saints' standout is expected to play Sunday night versus Green Bay after doing so in worse shape last week. Thomas (shoulder) is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, so fire up Travaris Cadet as a solid flex play regardless of whether or not Robinson can go.
Injury Pierre Thomas to miss 2-3 weeks, shoulder     -- Tue Oct 21 8:00 am --

Could return Week 10
Running back Pierre Thomas will miss two to three weeks with a shoulder injury, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. On the season, Thomas had just 30 carries for 133 yards, but will be seriously missed in the passing game. Thomas has by far the most targets out of any Saints running back, 29, and has come away with 26 catches so far. (NFL.com)

FF Today's Take: Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson will continue to handle work on first and second downs but expect Travaris Cadet to see increased playing time on passing downs. He'll have increased value in PPR leagues.
Injury RB Mark Ingram returns to practice, Graham sits     -- Wed Oct 15 4:30 pm --

Running back may wear small brace
New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram returned to practice on Wednesday and said he planned to play in the Saints' game Sunday at the Detroit Lions. Tight end Jimmy Graham, who left the Tampa Bay game on Oct. 5 after suffering a neck injury, did not practice. (Times-Picayune)

FF Today's Take: Mark Ingram was a full participant in practice and should be available to play this weekend against the Lions. Fantasy owners should take a "wait and see" approach with Ingram for Week 7 to see HC Sean Payton splits the running duties in a crowded backfield. Likewise, Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson will see their fantasy value dip upon Ingram's return. TE Jimmy Graham is dealing with a neck injury. The true extent of his injury is unknown but recent reports have tabbed him to miss at least two weeks.
Injury Mark Ingram expected to miss a month     -- Mon Sep 15 12:30 pm --

Hand injury
New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is expected to miss about a month with a hand injury he suffered Sunday, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Ingram was off to a good start this season rushing for 143 yards on 24 carries with 3 TDs over the first two weeks. Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas will likely see their roles increased.
