|It’s officially official. It’s time to give up on the hope that Daniels will regain the elite form that he displayed over the first half of the 2009 season before suffering a torn ACL. At this point, it is even hard to get excited that Daniels has the chance to earn plenty of targets with Kevin Walter in decline and a trio of unproven players behind him on the depth chart. He caught 54 passes for 677 yards and three touchdowns last season and it is unlikely that he will significantly improve on those numbers in 2012. Consider Daniels a mid to lower tier TE2.
| Owen Daniels out against Colts -- Thu Dec 12 2:10 pm --|
Won't return in Week 15
|Owen Daniels’ return has been delayed at least another week.
Daniels won’t play Sunday at Indianapolis, Texans interim coach Wade Phillips said Thursday.
The Texans are also dealing with minor injuries to tight ends Garrett Graham and Jake Byrne. Rookie Ryan Griffin is the Texans’ only fully healthy tight end. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: There had been some speculation that Daniels would be able to return this week but that won't happen. His value in redraft leagues is flimsy at best.
| Owen Daniels unlikely to play -- Tue Dec 3 7:00 am --|
Still not ready to practice
|Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Monday the team will have to soon make a decision about the status of tight end Owen Daniels.
Daniels could return to action Thursday at Jacksonville. He’s still recovering from a leg injury, though, and has yet to participate in team activities.
Daniels said last week it was unlikely he’d play against the Jaguars. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: It won't be a surprise if Daniels is placed on IR given his status and the team having no shot of making the playoffs. Garrett Graham will continue to serve as the Texans starting tight end with TE2 value.
| Daniels out 4-8 weeks, broken fibula -- Tue Oct 8 11:15 am --|
Texans lose starting tight end
|The injury tight end Owen Daniels suffered in Sunday’s 34-3 loss at San Francisco is a fractured fibula that could keep him out as long as two months. Third-year tight end Garrett Graham will replace Daniels in the starting lineup. Rookie Ryan Griffin will move up a spot into the backup position. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: Tony Gonzalez (bye) owners should take a look at Graham who has some plug and play value. The Texans feature the tight end in their offense giving Graham low-end TE1 value while Daniels is out.
| Owen Daniels undergoing MRI -- Mon Oct 7 6:45 pm --|
|Texans HC Gary Kubiak disclosed that TE Owen Daniels, the team’s leading receiver with six catches for 60 yards in the 34-3 loss to San Francisco, was getting an MRI “on his fibula.”
Daniels is second behind Andre Johnson with 24 catches for 252 yards. He’s tied with tight end Garrett Graham for the team lead with three touchdown receptions. The Texans are hoping Daniels’ injury is just a bruise.
“He got hit on his leg late in the game,” Kubiak said. “That’s all I know right now.” (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: Daniels has emerged as a consistent fantasy force this season in large part due to Matt Schaub's ability to keep both teams in the game. It would be surprising if he was seriously hurt, but Garrett Graham would see a huge increase in fantasy value if that ends up being the case and could serve as a low-end TE1 in PPR formats.
