|Letís run down the Holmes situation from 2011. Quitter? Check. Drama queen? Check. Fighting with the quarterback? Check. Called a team cancer? Check. Called out by teammates (more than once)? Check. Letís face it folks, had the Jets not had to pay Holmes nearly $8-million in guaranteed salary for the upcoming season, he would have been released. Now letís check in on the 2012 situation. Argued with his position coach, chucked his helmet and pulled himself out of an OTA because he thought he was being overworked? Check. Proceeded to sit out drills claiming injury? Check. If I havenít convinced you that Holmes is a major risk, how about we check in on his 2011 production: 51 receptions on 101 targets for a career-low 654 yards with eight touchdowns. Sure, there isnít a proven wide receiver on the depth chart to start opposite him but Holmesí attitude and the presence of scatter shot quarterbacks in Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow are major concerns. Holmes is a low-end WR2 in 2012 provided he keeps his attitude in check.
Comment: Holmes is the lone star in the Jets receiving corps but he comes with baggage thanks to his diva attitude and a rib injury, making him a risky WR3 for your fantasy team.

Injury to Bears WR opens door for Santonio Holmes
|Veteran WR Santonio Holmes has a good chance to be more than a stopgap for the Chicago Bears if he shows enough over the next couple weeks to make the roster. Marquess Wilson ó the smooth, speedy offseason standout who had been in line for the Bears' No. 3 receiver job ó is likely to be sidelined until at least midseason. Wilson broke his collarbone in three places when he was injured in practice two weeks ago. He had surgery Aug. 5 and the initial timeline for recovery was set at 12 to 14 weeks.
FF Today's Take: It's not a crippling blow to the Bears' high-powered offense, but it is a notable one. Wilson figured to be able to stretch the field and make teams think twice before overcommitting to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Holmes' career has been sidetracked due to injury, although he has a great opportunity to contribute if he can nail down the No. 3 job in Chicago. He's off the redraft radar for now, but don't forget about him either.

Former Jets' receiver worked out for Bears last week
|The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with former New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

FF Today's Take: Holmes found the free agent market cold this off-season but will get a chance to stick with the Bears now that No.3 wideout Marquess Wilson is out with a broken collarbone. Eric Weems was working in the slot for the Bears on Thursday night. Holmes is nothing more than a WR5 at this point and will go undrafted in most leagues.
