2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
With his record-setting passing performance in 2011, Brees finished the season as the top ranked fantasy quarterback, averaging 29.5 FPts/G. He eclipsed Dan Marinoís single-season passing yardage record with 5,476 yards while throwing for a career-high 46 touchdowns. Better yet, he cut down on his interceptions, going from a career-high 22 in 2010 to just 14 last season. Things couldnít be looking rosier, right? Well, Bountygate has put a cloud over the Saints and Breesí outlook for the 2012 season with head coach Sean Payton suspended for the entire year. Paytonís absence has to have a negative impact on the teamís offensive production and letís face it; it is folly to chase last yearís fantasy production so predicting 5,500 passing yards and 45 touchdowns for Brees is foolhardy. Brees will remain a fantasy stud in 2012 but 5,000 yards and 35-40 touchdown passes seems far more realistic. After Aaron Rodgers, Brees deserves consideration as being the number two quarterback on your draft board along with Tom Brady, Matt Stafford and Cam Newton.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Brees, Watson listed as Questionable for Saints     -- Fri Dec 25 7:45 pm --

Brees insists that he'll play
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game, according to the team's official injury report on Friday. The Saints said Brees was "limited" in practice on Friday. Colston, Ben Watson, Armstead and Strief did not practice at all. (Times-Picayune)

FF Today's Take: Brees' "Grade 2" tear of the plantar fascia tendon in his right heel should certainly give fantasy owners some concern even though the QB said he is going to play. He'll be a risky QB1 in a plus matchup against a Jaguars defense that's given up the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Watson needs to be monitored Sunday morning as there's a decent chance he ends up on the Inactive list.
Injury Brees: "I'm going to play," in Week 16     -- Thu Dec 24 5:30 pm --

Dealing with Grade 2 tear of his right plantar fascia
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Thursday he has every intention of playing on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If that statement left any wiggle room, he was more forceful in a follow-up response. "I'm going to play," he said. "I'm going to play." Brees didn't practice on Thursday after what he described as a "Grade 2" tear of the plantar fascia tendon in his right heel. (New Orleans Times-Picayune)

FF Today's Take: Brees said he was just "playing it safe" by not practicing Thursday. Despite his optimism, owners need to have a backup plan in place because Brees should be considered no more than 50-50 to go in a meaningless game (for the Saints anyway) against the Jaguars. If he does play, he'll be a high-risk, high-reward QB1 in a game that could easily turn into a shootout.
Injury Drew Brees getting MRI on foot     -- Tue Dec 22 12:05 pm --

Matt Flynn waiting in the wings to face Jaguars in Week 16
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said he will undergo an MRI on his foot after injuring it in the first half of the Saints 35-27 loss to the Lions on Monday night. Brees limped to the sidelines after taking a hit and had his foot inspected and taped up by trainers. However, he never missed a snap and returned to the game shortly. (NOLA.com)

FF Today's Take: We'll have to wait and see how the MRI shakes out. There's nothing the Saints have left to play for, so we suspect they'll sit him if anything is seriously wrong. Matt Flynn could be a decent plug-n-play QB if Brees misses Week 16.
