Tony Romo out for the season -- Fri Nov 27 4:00 pm --
After re-fracturing collarbone
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday that quarterback Tony Romo’s season is done after he fractured his left collarbone for the second time this season. During a radio interview on KRLD-FM radio in Dallas, Jones said that Romo suffered a hairline fracture that will not require surgery. The injury, suffered late in the third quarter of Thursday’s 33-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers, will sideline the 35-year-old Romo for the remaining five games of the regular season. Romo, who played in just two complete games this season, threw five touchdowns and seven interceptions in four games. After returning from the original broken collarbone — which occurred at Philadelphia in Week 2 — Romo threw a combined five interceptions against the Miami Dolphins and Panthers. (USA Today)
FF Today's Take: With Matt Cassel likely under center for the rest of the season, it's hard to get too excited about the fantasy outlook for players like Terrance Williams and Jason Witten. Darren McFadden and Dez Bryant are currently the only Cowboys' players worth owning for fantasy purposes.
Dez Bryant doubtful though not yet ruled out -- Fri Oct 23 6:40 pm --
Cowboys' star "is running and cutting at full speed"
Dez Bryant has been sidelined with a broken foot since Week 1 but coach Jason Garrett said Thursday that the Cowboys' all-world wide receiver is "day to day," and that no one has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, reports NFL.com's Desmond Purnell. Garrett said before practice that Bryant "is running and cutting at full speed," according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram Charean Williams. (CBS Sports)
FF Today's Take: Dallas is desperate for a victory but don't expect them to risk the health of their best offensive weapon. Bryant will probably miss at least one more game before returning to the Cowboys' lineup. Terrance Williams and Jason Witten remain the team's top two receiving options in the interim.
Dez Bryant's foot to take six weeks to heal -- Tue Sep 15 10:59 am --
Jerry Jones Cowboys star WR will be out through team's Week 6 bye
In a radio interview, Jerry Jones said Dez Bryant's (Jones fracture in foot) surgery went well, but that the foot will take a full six weeks to heal completely. (Twitter)
FF Today's Take: Don't I know it! I once had the exact same foot fracture (fifth metatarsal) and it's a low-blood-flow area that heals relatively slowly, though the inserted screw aids the process. The Cowboys will likely continue to spread the ball around to TE Jason Witten, WR Terrance Williams, slot receiver Cole Beasley, RB Lance Dunbar -- though we could see some of second-year WR Devon Street and rookie Lucky Whitehead if the team shows a need for a bigger edge target.
Dez Bryant out 4-6 weeks, foot injury -- Sun Sep 13 10:00 pm --
Dallas All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant could be out at least a month after breaking his right foot in the Cowboys' season-opening victory over the New York Giants. Owner Jerry Jones said Bryant would need a pin and be out four to six weeks. (Dallas Morning News)
FF Today's Take: The Cowboys will be without their biggest playmaker for at least a month. Next up on the depth chart is Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley. Tight End Jason Witten may also see increased targets over the next few weeks. If available, Williams will be a hot waiver wire pickup as a potential WR2/3.
