Dobson expected to make preseason debut -- Thu Aug 28 1:00 pm --
Recovering from foot injury
Wide receiver Aaron Dobson traveled with the Patriots to New Jersey and is expected to make his preseason debut tonight against the Giants, according to a source. Doctors inserted a screw into Dobson’s left foot to surgically repair a stress fracture March 10, and he didn’t begin practicing until Aug. 11. (Boston Herald)
FF Today's Take: Dobson is going to have to earn his playing time as Kenbrell Thompkins and Brandon LaFell are ahead of him on the depth chart. Dobson has been injury-prone during his short career, missing five games in his rookie season with the same foot injury. He's worthy of a late-round flier in your redraft league.
Aaron Dobson off PUP list, in full pads -- Tue Aug 12 5:00 pm --
Pats receiver recovering from foot injury
WR Aaron Dobson was in full pads for today's practice. He was planting and cutting on either foot while running routes against air, but did not participate in team drills or in 1-on-1 drills against the Eagles defensive backs. (Boston.com)
FF Today's Take: Dobson is obviously not a full-go yet and there's no timetable for him to return to full contact. He's not worth speculating on in redraft leagues at this point until his injury status becomes clear.
Dobson optimistic he'll be ready for camp -- Wed Jul 9 1:00 pm --
Stress fracture kept him sidelined during OTAs
As for the injury itself, Aaron Dobson remains optimistic with the start of training camp looming on July 24. “It’s doing better, man,” he said. “It’s getting better every day. Every week it’s getting better, so we’re just going to see where it’s at by the time camp starts.” (Boston Herald)
FF Today's Take: The Patriots are known for keeping injuries close to the vest so we'll have to wait and see how much Dobson is participating once camp begins. He's got WR3 upside in the Patriots offense if he can manage to stay healthy but his injury risk will have far down fantasy rankings this summer.
Pats WR Dobson doubtful for minicamp -- Mon Jun 16 4:25 pm --
Underwent foot surgery in March
|Perhaps there will be a surprise appearance at minicamp Tuesday, but it currently does not look like Aaron Dobson will be taking part in practices this week. Dobson, who is recovering from March foot surgery and did not take part in organized team activities, is said to be doubtful for this week’s mandatory minicamp, according to a source.
FF Today's Take: The original timetable following the procedure was 2-3 months. The wide receiver delayed the surgery to March because there was hope his foot could heal without surgery. Dobson is no longer wearing a walking boot and is said to be “doing better.” The second-year man out of Marshall has the ability to ascend into fantasy WR3 territory this season, but his recurring foot issues present a potentially significant roadblock.
