Keenan Allen out for season-- Mon Sep 12 6:10 pm --
Suffered torn ACL, minor cartilage damage in Week 1 loss
Chargers coach Mike McCoy confirmed that receiver Keenan Allen suffered an ACL tear in his right knee and is done for the year after the team received results from an MRI on Monday.
The Chargers will place Allen on injured reserve, and use his vacant roster spot to activate rookie defensive end Joey Bosa from the exempt list.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Allen also suffered some minor cartilage damage in addition to the ACL tear.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Less than one year after suffering a lacerated kidney, Allen is getting hit with another major injury. While Antonio Gates and Danny Woodhead should be locked into their respective TE1 and high-end RB2 designations in PPR leagues with the likely bump in volume they are about to receive, San Diego will also expand Travis Benjamin's role. The Chargers also love Tyrell Williams, and he could be the one that ends up replacing Allen as a starter. Williams is worth a speculative add in all leagues.
Stevie Johnson suffers knee injury-- Sun Jul 31 4:30 pm --
Carried off the field
Chargers wide receiver Steve Johnson was carried off the field Sunday with a right knee injury after going down in a pass drill. Johnson, who applied no pressure to his right leg as he was carried off, was examined by trainers for several minutes before he was taken inside.(San Diego Union Tribune)
FF Today's Take:No word yet on the severity but there appears to be some legitimate concern for veteran. Johnson had been running with the first team during OTAs and the early portions of camp. Travis Benjamin and Dontrelle Inman would likely see a usage increase if Johnson misses any significant time.
