|Despite having three solid wide receivers, the Lions used a 2nd round pick on Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles even though Broyles suffered a torn ACL last November. The pick was panned somewhat but with Nate Burleson aging and chewing up a decent chunk of salary cap space, Broyles figures to line up as the teamís main slot receiver within a year or two. And thereís a chance he could earn some looks at some point in 2012. More quick than fast and lacking ideal size at 5í10Ē and 188 pounds, Broyles isnít a candidate to earn a major role outside but he caught a ton of balls in college, making him an intriguing flier in deep, PPR leagues, although he may not be fully recovered early in the season. Look for Broyles to have a limited role early in the season but monitor his usage and consider him a potential waiver wire candidate by mid-season. He rates as a mid-tier dynasty prospect given his potential role as a target eating slot receiver in a young Lions offense.
Nate Burleson eyes Week 10 return -- Mon Oct 28 3:25 pm --
Ryan Broyles lost for the season with Achilles' injury
Nate Burleson was running routes and catching passes from quarterback Matthew Stafford before Sunday's win against Dallas, and Burleson said recently that once he started catching passes it would mean he's close to returning. He said after the game that the Week 10 game in Chicago after this week's bye is still his target for a return. (The Detroit News)
FF Today's Take: Burleson is a trusted possession receiver for Stafford in Detroit's pass-heavy offense and proved as much once again before he broke his arm in a car accident on Sept. 24. Burleson is a low-upside WR3 in most formats, but should be resume his usual slot role in three-wide sets upon his return following Ryan Broyles' season-ending injury in Week 8. Kris Durham has filled in well as the second receiver, so it remains to be seen if Burleson reclaims that role as well.

FF Today's Take: Big loss for the Lions today. Ryan Broyles, Reggie Bush and Joique Bell should see increased targets in the passing game.
Burleson breaks arm in car crash -- Tue Sep 24 7:00 am --
Will have surgery today
Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm in a single-car accident and will have surgery Tuesday, the team announced. Ken Sarnoff, Burleson's agent, told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder that his client broke his arm in two places. Sarnoff said the receiver had been watching "Monday Night Football" with teammates and crashed his SUV while driving home. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: The timing couldn't be worse as Burleson is coming of his best game of the season (6 catches, 116 yards). Ryan Broyles will fill the slot role moving forward for the Lions and will be a popular waiver wire add in Week 4.
