Rookie receiver joins growing list of injured Browns
Rookie first-round pick Corey Coleman broke his hand during practice on Wednesday, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Cleveland.com first reported the development.
Both Rapoport and Cleveland.com both noted that there was no recovery timetable yet available.
FF Today's Take:Yikes. Corey Coleman was just starting to make his mark on this offense but now will be put on shelf until further notice. This opens the door for Terrelle Pryor, Andrew Hawkins and Duke Johnson to get more targets in the short term. How effective any of them will be with the team depending on rookie quarterback Cody Kessler remains to be seen.
WR Corey Coleman to miss preseason opener-- Wed Aug 10 6:27 pm --
Hamstring injury will also keep Andrew Hawkins sidelined
BEREA, Ohio — Browns top pick Corey Coleman and fellow receiver Andrew Hawkins will sit out Friday night's preseason opener in Green Bay with their hamstring injuries, but Terrelle Pryor should be okay with his calf, coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday.
The undisputed star of the first week of camp, Coleman has missed four straight practices since tweaking his hamstring Friday night in the intrasquad scrimmage here.
Hawkins has missed the past six practices with a hamstring injury, and Jackson pulled Pryor out of practice Wednesday with a tweaked right calf.
FF Today's Take:Rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman has had a terrific start to training camp but his history with nagging injuries is something fantasy owners need to think about on draft day. His current hamstring injury is considered minor but the team isn't going to take any chances this early in the preseason. Andrew Hawkins' injury may be a little more severe but his status for regular season does not appear to be in jeopardy at this time.
