49ers won't release Kaepernick before deadline     -- Thu Mar 31 9:27 am --

$11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed April 1st
April 1 deadline, when Colin Kaepernick's $11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed, is moot. 49ers are not releasing him before then. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Kaepernick trade rumors have been running rampant for weeks now along side reports that the 49ers plan on keeping the 28 year-old quarterback. His 2016 salary becomes guaranteed on Friday and it appears that 49ers have no plans to release him today. The QB needy Broncos have interest in a trade, but want Kaepernick at a reduced salary. Even though he wants out, Kaepernick may be sticking with Chip Kelly in San Francisco in 2016.
Broncos acquire QB Mark Sanchez from Eagles     -- Fri Mar 11 2:25 pm --

7th-round pick in 2016
The Denver Broncos have acquired quarterback Mark Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional draft pick, the teams announced. The draft pick headed to Philadelphia is a seventh-round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and multiple reports. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: After losing Peyton Manning to retirement and Brock Osweiler to the Texans, the Broncos are in scramble mode at the quarterback position. Expect Sanchez to compete for the starting job with another acquisition. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick are likely candidates.
Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco     -- Tue Feb 2 5:40 pm --

QB prefers New York as landing spot
The Daily News has learned that embattled 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco after a forgettable 2015 that included on-field struggles that resulted in a benching midway through the season and a coaching change after it. The Jets are his preferred destination, according to sources. (New York Daily News)

FF Today's Take: Even though San Francisco just signed Kaepernick to a new deal last season, the structure of the contract doesn't guarantee Kaepernick's 2016 salary (11.9 million) until April 1st, meaning he could be traded or released. The Jets have stated they are interested in re-signing Ryan Fitzpatrick so this move seems unlikely at this time. Stay tuned...
