The league's dominant defensive force re-injured his back during Houston's Week 3 loss to the New England Patriots, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation. There's a chance Watt could miss the rest of the season, per Rapoport. The Texans announced Wednesday they placed him on injured reserve. The hope is that he can return for a late-season playoff run. Texans coach Bill O'Brien told reporters he has no idea if Watt will need to undergo surgery.(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:J.J. Watt has already had sports hernia surgery in January and back surgery in late July. He followed a rigorous rehab program to make it back in time for the start of the 2016 season but now looks like he will miss most if not all of Houston's remaining regular season games for 2016.
Jimmy Garoppolo could still start Thursday night-- Tue Sep 20 10:13 am --
Patriots not ruling out talented backup taking field vs. Texans
Ed Werder (@Edwerderespn) on Twitter: "#Patriots still believe there's a chance Jimmy Garoppolo can tolerate pain of AC joint sprain and start vs #Texans"(Twitter)
FF Today's Take:It's hard to believe that the Patriots would trust a lame Garoppolo to somehow evade J.J. Watt and be more effective than Jacoby Brissett, but I guess anything's possible when it comes to Bill Belichick and his evil genius. Neither Garoppolo nor Brissett makes a quality fantasy starter in Week 3.
