A pleasant surprise in 2010 as a late training camp addition after being cut by the Jets, Woodhead saw his touches and production drop in New England last season. After registering 131 touches for 925 yards and six touchdowns in 2010, he posted just 95 touches for 508 yards and one score in 2012. With Shane Vereen expected to be healthy after several nagging injuries ruined his rookie season and Joseph Addai added in free agency, Woodhead has plenty competition for the teamís pass receiving role out of the backfield. He isnít expected to get consistent touches this season and that makes him a borderline RB5 on your fantasy squad.
Melvin Gordon still recovering from knee surgery-- Tue May 10 8:00 am --
The Chargers running back participated in on-field drills Monday. Afterward, he acknowledged he is not yet 100 percent, still working back from a January knee procedure. Sources said that Melvin Gordon underwent microfracture surgery and was given a recovery timetable of four to six months.(San Diego Union Tribune)
FF Today's Take:The 4-6 month timetable should allow him to compete fully in training camp and with the Chargers not addressing the running back position in free agency or the draft, it's safe to say they are comfortable with Gordon being ready for the regular season. Gordon, Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver are scheduled to be the top three RBs on the depth chart.
