|After a solid rookie season in 2009 when he caught 37 passes for 359 yards and a touchdown, Edelman seemed a decent bet to eventually assume Wes Welker’s role in the team’s offense. However, after two seasons in which he totaled 11 receptions for 120 yards, the odds of that happening now seem remote. He would have some fantasy value, especially in PPR leagues, if Welker were to go down with an injury. Entering the season, Edelman’s only real fantasy value is if you own Welker in a deep league and want to handcuff him. Dynasty owners in deep leagues could also grab him in the hopes that Welker isn’t in New England in 2013.
| Edelman to have surgery on Monday -- Sun Nov 15 9:52 pm --|
Broken bone in foot
|Julian Edelman will undergo surgery Monday for a broken bone in his foot, per source. There is hope he will return this season, per sources. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)|
FF Today's Take: It's been reported that Edelman broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot which is a similar injury that Dez Bryant suffered earlier this season. Bryant missed 7 weeks. In all likelihood, Edeleman's regular season is over. Danny Amendola should see increased work and should be a high waiver wire priority in Week 11.
| Edelman limited in practice -- Wed Nov 4 7:00 pm --|
|FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots fans and fantasy football owners can breathe a deep sigh of relief. Julian Edelman is fine.
The wide receiver popped up on the Patriots’ injury report as limited with a knee ailment Wednesday. Edelman finished practice and the injury is “nothing to be concerned about,” a source told NESN.com.
FF Today's Take: Julian Edelman's knee injury may not be serious but he could see his targets decrease slightly after the Patriots welcomed back Brandon LaFell in Week 8. Nonetheless, he's a surefire starter in all fantasy formats for Week 9 against the Redskins.
