| Austin Seferian-Jenkins receives high praise TE coach compares ASF to Tony Gonzalez By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Aug 4 2015, 12:10 pm
| After the first open practice at Bucs training camp, Dirk Koetter, the team’s new offensive coordinator, compared Austin Seferian-Jenkins to Tony Gonzalez.
“I tell you, if Austin is healthy, he reminds me … I coached Tony Gonzalez at the end of his career. Our tight ends coach, Jon Embree, had Tony in Kansas City,” Koetter said. “Austin’s talented.” (Tampa Tribune)
FFToday's Take: Wow. We've heard this sort of praise before, if not to this degree. ASF has 21 NFL catches for 221 yards, so perhaps the comparisons to a future Hall of Famer with 1,304 catches, 14,906 yards and 109 touchdowns is a bit much.
But there's certainly plenty of upside in an offense geared toward TE production and a rookie QB who'll need a reliable checkdown. ASF projects as a high-risk, high-upside TE2.
