Falcons pleased with Hankerson
WR played under new OC Kyle Shanahan in Washington
By: Doug Orth | Jul 23 2015, 6:10 pm

Opposite Julio Jones, the coaches really like newcomer Leonard Hankerson based on his strong offseason. Hankerson played in Shanahan's system while in Washington and appears to be healthy coming off a gruesome left knee injury in 2013. But Hankerson's emergence doesn't necessarily move Roddy White aside. It simply means the veteran White has to have a strong training camp and show the left knee injury that has plagued him won't be a lingering issue. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It sounds as though the beat writer believes White and Hankerson could end up battling for a starting spot opposite Jones. In all likelihood, however, Hankerson will probably end up being White's handcuff that could get some run if the 33-year-old's body continues to break down like it has in the lat two years. It's likely much ado about nothing, but a note to file away should White struggle out of the gate in 2015.
