Lions won't use franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh Would cost the Lions $27 million this season By: Mike Krueger | Mar 2 2015, 10:10 am
The Detroit Lions will not use the franchise tag on all-pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the team announced this morning, paving the way for him to become an unrestricted free agent if a long-term deal with the team is not reached by 4 p.m. next Tuesday. (Detroit Free Press)
FFToday's Take:This has been the conventional wisdom as tagging Suh would cost the Lions $27 million this season - a gigantic number that would handcuff the team in free agency. With Suh clogging up the middle, the Lions had the No.1 ranked rush defense last season. The Raiders, Jaguars and Colts have all been rumored to be interested in the veteran defensive tackle.
