The Falcons released veteran running back Steven Jackson today, the team confirmed. The team will save $3.75 million against the salary cap with the move. His cap number was slated to be $4.9 million and the dead money against the cap is his prorated signing bonus of $1.1 million. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
FFToday's Take:Jackson's two-year stay in Atlanta has come to an end. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry after signing a 3-year deal back in March of 2013. The Falcons will move forward with Devonta Freeman and could possibly re-sign Jacquizz Rodgers and/or Antone Smith... both are free agents. The Falcons could also look for running back help in the upcoming draft. Jackson will be 32 in late July.
