Vikings claim Ben Tate off waivers
Minnesota gets "replacement" for Peterson
By: Mike Krueger | Nov 19 2014, 4:27 pm

The Minnesota Vikings claimed running back Ben Tate on waivers Wednesday from the Cleveland Browns, a league source told ESPN.com's Field Yates. In claiming Tate, the Vikings owe him $352,941 for 2014 in guaranteed base salary, plus another $46,875 for each game that he is on the 46-man game day roster. His 2015 salary is not guaranteed. FFToday's Take: With Adrian Peterson all but out for the rest of the season, and Matt Asiata working through the league's concussion protocol, the Vikings were in need of running back help. Expect a timeshare with McKinnon and Tate moving forward. This move derails the small value McKinnon currently has and puts both in RB4 territory.
