Texans mulling quarterback change?
HC looking for a "spark" for struggling offense
By: Doug Orth | Nov 3 2014, 2:35 pm

Following a 31-21 defeat to the Eagles on Sunday at NRG Stadium and another inconsistent showing from the offense, Texan HC Bill O’Brien didn’t come close to benching Ryan Fitzpatrick. But the first-year coach did say every position will be evaluated and he’s looking for a “spark” to ignite a stalled unit. O’Brien said if anyone is at fault, it’s the coach and play-caller. “If the blame is pinpointed anywhere, the blame is pinpointed here,” O’Brien said. “I’ve got to do a better job of getting these guys pointed in the right direction.” (Houston Chronicle)

FFToday's Take: O'Brien committed to Fitzpatrick as the starter early on in the offseason, but he was not signed to be the long-term answer in Houston. Ryan Mallett is waiting in the wings and could be on the verge of making his first career start sometime this season, perhaps as soon as after Houston's Week 10 bye. While he lacks Fitzpatrick's vast experience, there are no questions about his ability to throw downfield.
