Michael Vick announced as Week 9 starter Geno Smith benched after throwing three first-quarter picks By: Doug Orth | Oct 27 2014, 5:55 pm
The New York Jets made the only move they could reasonably make at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. They are replacing the struggling Geno Smith with veteran Michael Vick.
The Chiefs last season faced several quarterbacks making their first start after replacing a starter who was either injured or ineffective. This is the first such instance this season and it allows Vick to cross paths once again with Chiefs coach Andy Reid. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take:Vick was only marginally better than Smith in Week 8, failing to spot wide-open underneath receivers on several occasions while throwing an interception and committing two fumbles. In theory, Vick's ability to extend plays should give Percy Harvin and Eric Decker more time to get open, but Vick also appears to have regressed as a passer. The Jets' best chance to win in Week 9 is to ride Chris Ivory and the running game as long as possible.
