Vernon Davis optimistic he will return Week 4

Vernon Davis' crutches were gone, and so was his limp, as he looked ready Tuesday to return to a 49ers team that historically can't win without him. An ankle injury kept the typically durable Davis out of last Sunday's 23-14 collapse at Arizona. (San Jose Mercury News)

FFToday's Take: The 49ers waived practice squad tight end Asante Cleveland which is good sign that Davis and/or Vance McDonald (knee) will be available in Week 4.
