RG3 out indefinitely with dislocated ankle
Team believes he will return at some point in 2014
By: Doug Orth | Sep 15 2014, 4:00 pm

Robert Griffin III will have a cast put on his dislocated ankle but it remains unclear how long the quarterback will be sidelined, coach Jay Gruden said Monday. “We’ll know in a few more weeks how long he’ll be out,” Gruden said. Gruden said Griffin did not suffer any fractures or ligament damage and he would not be put on season-ending injured reserve, but the coach did not offer any timetable for a potential return. He said he does believe Griffin will be back this season. Kirk Cousins, who entered after Griffin left the game, will take over as the starting quarterback. (Washington Times)

FFToday's Take: Griffin and the team hopes he can make it back in 4-5 weeks, but that seems overly optimistic at this point. Furthermore, the team may be tempted to stretch it if Cousins can continue to perform well in the interim. It would be a surprise if Griffin can make it back before midseason, so owners in leagues with short benches may be forced to release him. Cousins should be a more-than-adequate replacement while he is recovering.
