| The Chiefs have agreed to a new four-year contract extension with quarterback Alex Smith, a person with knowledge of the situation Sunday told The Star on Sunday.
The agreement, which includes $45 million in guaranteed money, is a significant development for the Chiefs. Smith, 30, had one year left on a contract that is set to pay him $7.5 million before the extension, which was negotiated by agent Tom Condon, kicks in for 2015. (Kansas City Star)
FFToday's Take: The two sides have been working most of this off-season on a deal and now it has been reached. Smith is coming off a 23-touchdown, 8-interception season ranking him 16th among fantasy quarterbacks last season. He's a middle-of-the-road QB2 that will need to repeat his late-season numbers to be considered a QB1.
