Marquess Wilson likely out until midseason
Injury to Bears WR opens door for Santonio Holmes
By: Doug Orth | Aug 18 2014, 3:25 pm

Veteran WR Santonio Holmes has a good chance to be more than a stopgap for the Chicago Bears if he shows enough over the next couple weeks to make the roster. Marquess Wilson — the smooth, speedy offseason standout who had been in line for the Bears' No. 3 receiver job — is likely to be sidelined until at least midseason. Wilson broke his collarbone in three places when he was injured in practice two weeks ago. He had surgery Aug. 5 and the initial timeline for recovery was set at 12 to 14 weeks. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: It's not a crippling blow to the Bears' high-powered offense, but it is a notable one. Wilson figured to be able to stretch the field and make teams think twice before overcommitting to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Holmes' career has been sidetracked due to injury, although he has a great opportunity to contribute if he can nail down the No. 3 job in Chicago. He's off the redraft radar for now, but don't forget about him either.
