ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson confirmed to ESPN.com on Wednesday that he has received a fabricated splint to put on his once-injured finger for protective purposes only. Johnson had surgery on his injured finger after the 2013 season and declined to provide more details about the splint or the finger following practice Wednesday. It is unclear how often Johnson plans to wear the fabricated splint. (ESPN.com) FFToday's Take: As the article indicates, the splint is for protective purposes only. Calvin Johnson is the most dominate wide receiver in the NFL today with or without a splint on his finger. Still, it is worth watching throughout the rest of the preseason to see how often he wears the splint and if it affects his ability to catch the ball.
