| Lions pleased with Stafford's progress QB showed improvement in "every facet" By: Doug Orth | Jul 28 2014, 5:15 pm
| HC Jim Caldwell had the quarterbacks report last week, so they could be ahead of the learning curve with the new offense. At that time, he told QB Matthew Stafford he was impressed with his understanding of the new offense considering all the new verbiage and increased pace.
I was impressed when he came back that first of all he did not miss a beat, Caldwell said. Hes a very, very smart guy. In every facet when he came back, I could see improvement footwork, accuracy, timing, command of the offense, all of those things. (Detroit News)
FFToday's Take: Stafford may already have one 40-touchdown season under his belt, but it is possible he is primed for a career year in 2014 or 2015 with the additions of WR Golden Tate and rookie TE Eric Ebron. The Lions even possess three very capable receivers out of the backfield in RBs Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick. With better fundamentals, owners should not hesitate making Stafford one of the top five quarterbacks selected in fantasy drafts.
