Lattimore placed on non-football injury list RB was cleared for full practice in offseason By: Doug Orth | Jul 17 2014, 7:25 pm
RB Marcus Lattimore, who was cleared to resume full practice in the offseason, was one of six players declared on the non-football injury list to open training camp. The 49ers’ rookies reported to training camp on Wednesday.
Lattimore was allowed to report with the rookies because he does not have an accrued year of NFL service after spending his rookie season on the NFI list due to a knee injury he sustained during his final season at South Carolina. (CSN Bay Area)
FFToday's Take:The NFI and physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) lists are procedural lists from which a player can be removed at any time to begin practice, so the Niners could just be playing it safe with Lattimore. However, it would have been a more positive sign to begin camp without limitations. Rookie Carlos Hyde continues to enjoy a clear lead over Lattimore in the race to be Frank Gore's handcuff.
